  • Minimal Weight Loss

    Hello...

I'm in my 2nd week and these have been my weights each morning (in kilos)...

    70.6
    70.4
    70.4
    69.7
    69.2
    69.3
    69.2
    69.3
    69.2

What I may be doing wrong is the percentages - the last few days, FitDay tells me I've been having too much fat (about 73% fat, 23% protein). Last night, I tried to add more protein to change that but I couldn't find anything to eat! I checked eggs at FitDay, but they're almost equal fat & protein - well, the percentages didn't alter when I added them in.

Calorie intake has been between 1400 and 1800.

I've also increased net carbs in the last few days, but with a maximum of only 15. I used to have only about 6 net carbs a day.

And I've been extremely hungry the last few days!

Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong to stay on the same weight all this time? Thanks for any advice - I want to move forward!

    Re: Minimal Weight Loss

    Hi!
I haven't even weighed yet. I started on the 1st of September. I stick to the diet, dont cheat and do a lot of different exercises. I know I've lost weight and I know I'm doing well in ketosis because of the ketostix that I use. Dont worry about daily weigh ins. They'll discourage you. Just get out and move and you'll feel better about yourself and the diet. I figure I'll weigh on the 1st of each month. I'm doing this diet for a lifestyle change and don't want to chained to a scale. You'll have your down days... I've had a few especially when I was starting my period. Just see it through and push through and you'll see a big difference. besides its nice after a month to see how much weight you've lost, instead of seeing the daily fluxuations which are normal for a woman. It all depends of water retention, cycles, hormones, ect. Take care.. If you have questions e-mail me!

      Re: Minimal Weight Loss

Thankyou for replying I've weighed myself every morning for as long as I can remember! Always so curious to see if there's a difference.

I have no TOM any more, so don't know if I'm still affected by hormones... (?)

I could definitely exercise more - I just do brisk walking now.

Good luck with your weight loss too, shari!

        Re: Minimal Weight Loss

Oh, I know this problem, I'm already happy when I lose 100 grams a day because that means things are happening.
this morning I weighed and had gained 600 grams in 2 days...thats really hard.
funny enough i lost 2 centimeters, so this must be water.
I suggest you measure yourself as well if you dont already.
I'd be going nuts if i didnt because most days when the scale is ********, my measurements tell me she's a liar :P
some of us are slow losers, you and me are 2 of them, its just our bad luck

oh and maybe in your case an increase of your daily carbs (moving to owl) might actually help...after your 2 weeks are over of course
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

Good point about water - I've been drinking less lately cos of SO many trips to the loo, including at least twice during the night !

I measured myself on the morning I started, so I guess it's time to re-do that Funny I'm slow with the tape measure yet so quick with the scales! If I possibly can - I'm not going to weigh myself till Monday!!

              Re: Minimal Weight Loss

Try and think of it in long term goals too that really helps me ........ you've lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks which means 6 lbs in a month, which means if you stay steady on this path you will be at your goal weight in just three short months! Not bad when you look at it that way is it?????? You also need to remember that the speed of weight loss when you have 50-75 or more pounds to lose is signifigantly faster then when you are so close to goal! I think your doing wonderfully! In addition you know what you need to do if you want to increase your losses ........ excercise more ....... drink your water...... get your veggies .........Read your DANDR book........ and trust the Atkins WOL! You can't fail!!!!!!!

                Re: Minimal Weight Loss

Ok, let's start with the food.

                1. You are NOT eating too much fat. I'm always in that range, because I don't eat much meat. And I have done this woe three times and not had stalls to really speak of.

                2. If you are hungry, you must eat. I hope you are. Don't even think about calories right now.

                3. Eggs are fabulous. I eat about 8 a day quite often. Eat them. Don't sit there and parse the fat/proteins. Just eat them - Dr. Atkins considered them a perfect food.

                4. The last time I did this woe (not this time - the second time) I had the exact same scale issue that you did during the first three to four weeks. It just wasn't registering much of a change. But the tape measure? OHHHHHHHHHHH, yeah. I was losing inches. So the advice about measuring is absolutely spot on.

                5. Think about how you FEEL? Do you have energy? Does your body feel good, less bloated, etc? Do you feel happy? Calm? Focus on that!

And most of all, congratulate yourself for having made it into the second week!
                Start date: 7/29/2007

                Scale: SW:235 CW:193
                GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

                Mini goals:
                215 - met 9/10/07
                205 - met 10/17/07
                195 - met 2/20/08
                180

                I survived a two-month stall!

                  Re: Minimal Weight Loss

I've had two weeks without the scale moving at all. It's highly frustrating and it's easy to think right away that you're doing something wrong. But it's also possible you are doing everything right and this is just your body's way of reacting to your new WOE. Make sure you get a measuring tape. It's proven to be my sanity saver when the scale refuses to move.

Other than that it looks like you're doing everything right so just keep plodding along and eventually that darn metal beast has to move!

                    Re: Minimal Weight Loss

Thanks Heidi - yes, it would be good to have met my goal in 3 months. Last time I did Atkins (February & March) I lost 7 kgs in 6 weeks - I want to lose 10 kgs this time, so I should definitely achieve that by 3 months But yes, I do think I should exercise more and drink more water.

Evermind, your points are very encouraging. I'll definitely take note of No.2 because I've been very hungry again today! The first few days on Atkins I wasn't hungry like I have been the last few I love eggs too - I'm having 6 a day lately, and would even like more As for No.5, yes to everything!

Thanks meena-beena - what I've been doing wrong would be not enough exercise and water. So more of them from now on!

I must get to bed now - no weighing tomorrow, but measuring!

Thanks for all your advice, I do appreciate it

                      Re: Minimal Weight Loss

Hi again! Well, I used the tape measure and in these 11 days, I've lost 4 inches from the top, 5 from the middle and 3 from the bottom - pretty surprising, and good

                      I've lost another pound too.

It's amazing how less hungry I feel by drinking lots more water!!!

The fat is still there but falling, to different areas lol It will be good when it thins out more and it's more skin than fat - doesn't sound too desirable, but better than fat

Well Aussie, you are well on your way with Atkins...which is a ketogenic diet, thus the inches melt off, because you are burning your fat off your body! It reflects this more and more, because fat and muscle weight the same, but they are not the same size, fat takes up more space, so as you burn it off, it's going to change your shape....
You will feel better and better!
