I have a question on ketosis I am hoping one of you could answer for me. I have ben on induction level for 4 days this is the end of day 4. I am been faithful not to excede 20 carbs a day most days I end up about 17 or 18 I use fit day to make sure my counts are accurate. When I tested this morning and again tonight with ketostixs it is only show the color change for trace amount. Am I doing something wrong, do I need to lower my carbs even lower or is 4 days just not long enough. Thank to anyone who can help me with this.

Re: question on ketosis
4 days is should be enough. Ketosis is a yes or no thing, if it registers then you are in. If its light it probably means you are getting all your water in~Lauren~
support? Isn't it time to give some back?

Re: question on ketosis
That's one great thing about this board, you learn so much. I was baffeled by the same thing until I found out that the more water you drink the lighter your keto sticks will show. As long as you are seeing a trace amount you are in ketosis. Keep up the good work!

Re: question on ketosis
Don't sweat it. Most of us don't even use ketostix. If you're 20 grams or below, you're in ketosis. As the previous poster said, any trace color means you are in it, and if it doesn't even show that, it's probably just that you are well-hydrated.

Re: question on ketosis
Thank you all so much for answering my questions. The ketostixs have such a color range I didn't know if a darker color change meant you were burning more fat then a lighter color or if it made a difference as long as it turned colors at all. The DANDR did say one way or the other. I know the basic on atkins but i could use some help on the fine points . Any way thanks again for the help.

Re: question on ketosis
It's like a pregnancy stick, as someone pointed out, you either ARE or you ARE NOT....
I know you want to help yourself loose weight as much as you can! I get it. The best you can do is eat right, drink water and exercise and develop a personal lifestyle incorporating these and trust the body to do the rest....
It took me forever to relax and allow this whole way of eating and living settle into me. I was up helping, trying to get those sticks to turn a deeper shade!! But reality is, we need to establish healthy routines with exercise, and learn to get all our water in. We need to create a "doable" plan...that will sustain us.74 8/1/06
