  • Very Weak on Diet

I was wondering why I have zero energy and everything is an effort. I admit I haven't been counting my carbs and I have no appetite. Is it possible that if I am not getting 20 carbs I could be feeling this way?

you usually feel this way the first week of induction - its called "induction Flu" it will pass!

as for the carbs, as long as you are getting your 3 cups of veggies and they aint just lettuce! i wouldnt worry too much

I'm past the "flu" stage. I think possibly it is the veggies. I am just too busy. I have not even been counting. Today I will keep track and try to follow perfectly. Thanks

I'd say be sure you get those veggies in! Possibly add potassium and magnesium.

            Re: Very Weak on Diet

I usually have a 2 egg omelet with cheese, mushromms and onions. I have 2 cups of decaf coffee. I have 2-3 TBSP heavy cream a day. Sometimes just meat for dinner. Some days I have some veggies (1x week). I have a salad about 4-5 days a week.

I know, I know, before it's even said. I need to eat. I am going to try 3 meals today and veggies and salad. Most days I'm full just from a salad, which I put tomatoes and cheese on. I eat a Mcdonalds dbl cheeseburger, minus the bun 1x week. My breakfast fills ne up til about 4:00. I have a piece of cheese to hold me til dinner.

            Any help?

Ok, well, I can spot the problem. You're not eating enough.

On Atkins, you should be eating more. You should be eating veggies with lunch and dinner every day. You should be eating between breakfast and 4 p.m., even if you weren't hungry.

THe reason you are weak is that you aren't getting enough food. Go to fitday.com and start keeping track of your food intake. This is serious. If you go into starvation mode, which it sounds like is happening, you will not lose any weight, you will feel lousy, and you will lose muscle.

Go re-read DANDR and plan a daily menu that complies with the rules.

Will do. Thank you. I am a stay at home mom but am extremely busy. Home business, 6 kids still at home, homeschool and youngest special needs. That's my excuse. My daughter is doing this with me. I told her to remind me to eat. I simply don't think about it if I'm not hungry.

                  Re: Very Weak on Diet

I had the same problem- I wasn't eating enough because I wasn't hungry. I finally started eating by the clock not by my hunger and now I feel great.

I have a protein breakfast usually a small omlette or sausage. I try to get a serving of vegis in every morning. Then I eat something around 11 am and again around 3 pm and then dinner after my work out. I would still like to get another snack in every day.

I am planning on hard boiling eggs again and then I wil have a few days with an extra snack of deviled eggs. Some times I just eat an oz of cheese or a side of steamed broc with butter and garlic.

                  Good Luck,

                  Julie

                    Re: Very Weak on Diet

I know how hard it is to remember to eat when you don't feel hungry! What I do is to try to have a small snack every 2-3 hours. Right now, it's about 10 a.m., and I'm having crustless pumpkin pie. At lunch, I'll have 2 meatballs and some spaghetti squash. I'll eat a salad at about 3:30.

On a typical weekend (I'm picking a day when I'm home, as you are) I have a small breakfast (couple of scrambled eggs, maybe) at about 7 or 8, and at 10:30 I have some steamed veggies with butter. Then at 12:30 or 1 I have a salad for lunch. Then at 3 I have a couple of devilled eggs. Dinner around 5 or 6, then another snack around 8 or 9. It gets the calories in and spreads the carbs out through the day.
