  • the hard truth

I'm back - for the fourth time. But this time is different - I now have the medical evidence that this is the only way I should be eating and therefore this time is for good.

A friend recently talked me into signing up for Weight Watchers with her, because she convinced me that it was the most healthy balanced way. I have done this once before, so I was skepitcal. After 4 weeks on the program I lost 4 kilos - but I was constantly starving and didn't have any energy. Sure the food is pretty good, but it never satisfied me, instead I always felt like eating more immediately after. I was miserable.

So this inspired me to get some tests done and it turns out I have a very high intolerance for glucose. My nutritionist explained that this is the reason I am always hungry - eating carbs just makes me want to eat more and only gives me temporary feelings of satisfaction and energy. No wonder I was feeling so bad.

So now I have to accept that this is the only way - and I'm kind of ok with that. I could really use some support though. This time I can't fail. This is forever.

Personally, that would seal the deal for me. I know it can be done, as far as shifting the mind set. I eat low carb regardless of what I weigh. It keeps my body hummming along, and my energy up and my mood stable. I am wearing sizes that I've never seen I exercise to a level where I could probably eat anything, but I am a low carber...
I stick to it, because it's right for my body.

Thanks guys. You are all such an inspiration and you look fantastic. I look forward to regular posting - sometimes you feel a little bit isolated being on this WOE in Australia. I feel it is yet to gain the recognition here it deserves.

            Cheers

Welcome back. You are right, 'regular posting' and making lots of friends here will help you not only gain knowledge and support...but it will make the journey more fun and help you build a positive attitude about the changes. I've been doing this for over 3 years now and the secret is not to feel that it is a punishment...but to look at it as a blessing that you've found how to get the weight off and keep it off.

It is designed so that you can add foods back into your life slowly and really get to see how they affect you weight-wise and understand your body. Knowing is power and once you develop positive habits with this program...you can feel the power and never have to hope that you don't fail. Best wishes. We're glad to have you back and share your success!!

Welcome back! I had a wake up call too. Found out I was diabetic in April. I did Atkins in 2002 and lost quickly but got off at Christmas and never got back on. I think now I was diabetic then in 2002 and that is why I felt so much better eating this way. So here I am, this is for life for me too.

This will be my second and last time starting. Did you start induction yet?
I started Wed. Happy low carb eating today!

                    Re: the hard truth

Welcome!! I know where you're coming from with the WW program. I tried that about 2 years ago--the online thing, and it was all wrong right from the word go. The points program allows you to eat everything within your recommended point allotment and that includes sugar (which is the kiss of death to me also). I was constantly hungry and the support forum over there is filled with other cranky people who are hungry and rude and don't waste a chance to make you feel like a failure.

In a nutshell, I was paying for a service I hated. lol--isn't that irony for you.

Anywho, I'm so glad you're here. You'll be such an inspiration to countless others because you already know this WOE works! Congrats on your restart and I can feel the "I'M GONNA DO IT" vibe.

                    Go for it!!
