  • Measurements Increasing

Hi again - I'm in my 3rd week induction, and unfortunately, am eating a lot of calories - 2000 a day lately. My weight over the last week has been (in kilos)...

    68.9
    68.5
    68.2
    68.1
    67.7
    68.0
    68.2

I have gained an inch in my three measurements :/

Does "all you can eat" not apply at this stage, as I thought we could eat, eat, eat if hungry? I will eat less than 2000 calories if I have to! The fat, protein and carbs % have all been just right, and a maximum of 15 net carbs a day.

Slowing down or stopping in weight wouldn't be too bad, but not gaining!

    Thanks for any advice

    Re: Measurements Increasing

2,000 calories is a lot for someone in ketosis. You shouldn't really be that hungry anymore. However, everyone is different.

As for your weight in the last week, it seems to fluctuate daily. This means you are EXACTLY like the rest of us. The body retains fluids at different times and we never know why. My weight this week has been like this:

    Monday: 211
    Tuesday: 212
    Wednesday: 210
    Thursday: 209
    Friday: 212
    Saturday: 210

I expect that sometime next week I'll be down to 208. This is just the way it goes. I will drop down low, then immediately go up a pound or two or three, then start back down, then drop even lower. I only count the lowest weight, since I know for a fact that I am not gaining a single ounce of fat.

Gaining an inch in the three measurements is interesting. Are you at or near TOM? That would account for it.

I wouldn't worry about any of this, frankly. Be interested in what your body is doing, but not obsessed. Focus on how you feel - I assume you are full of energy, feel great, and can't wait to live life?
    Start date: 7/29/2007

    Scale: SW:235 CW:193
    GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

    Mini goals:
    215 - met 9/10/07
    205 - met 10/17/07
    195 - met 2/20/08
    180

    I survived a two-month stall!

Thanks for that. I have been extra hungry the last couple of days :/ Re energy, that isn't great either - something emotional going on, I guess. Things may improve after the weekend...

      (No TOMs any more)

      Thanks again!

        Re: Measurements Increasing

Maybe you ate something off? I know when I start to feel hungry I probably ate something not legal that was lurking in something I put in my mouth. That usually happens when I eat out or away from home. Are you watching your Splenda? Too much will kill all progress. Are you getting in all your water? That might cause you to hold on to some. Are you getting in your vitamin? Eating too much cheese? Exercising like a mad woman? lol.

I don't worry about calories on induction---they count, but they aren't that important on this WOE because if you follow along eventually your appetite diminishes, cravings go out the window and you start eating less. Obviously, if you eat more calories than you expend you'll end up with a gain. That's true with any "diet" you go on. But in the beginning it's all a learning process.

          Thanks meena - I have 3 Splenda tablets a day, 3 tablespoons cream, 2 - 3 slices cheese - that's okay isn't it?

I have only half the amount of water that I'm supposed to, as I pee FAR too much, even on this amount - very annoying, especially waking up 3 times during the night to go (used to be twice until lately!?)

Btw, something bad happened today - I was at Mum's and she asked if I can eat fried fish and I said yes, yum - and it was only when I got home, went to Fitday, saw the huge amount of carbs and actually realised I'd had breadcrumbs! I've never had fish on Atkins yet, so I just didn't think properly :/ Now I'm doing my best to balance the percentage of Fat/Carbs/Protein, and because it's nearly bed-time, I've had to settle with 6% Carbs, but I've still kept it under 20 net carbs! I hope I haven't upset the apple-cart and things won't be too affected!

            Re: Measurements Increasing

You know--on this WOE, when you pee you are flushing out the fat!! So I'd want to be peeing all the time!!!!!

You sound on track with the splenda, cream and cheese. The fried fish thing is all experience points on your Atkins card. Take it with a grain of salt and mark it as lesson learned. Now next time you get into a situation like that, you'll know that it's a no no.

All you need is some confidence and a reminder that this is not a diet (I hate that word--lol) This is a way of life. Take it and make it yours!!! Get back in the game and JUST DO IT!!
