  • planning a baby shower ala Atkins

My daughter is going to have twins in December. After trying for 5 years she finally got pregnant with a boy and a girl. Instant family Any way I am having a Baby Shower for her in three weeks. The main food is vegitable lasagna but I am also having a wonderful antipasto salad with meat and cheese and olives, a veggi platter and cheese platter. I plan on having a tiny taste of the lasagna and then wolf down as much salad as I can. The problem is the cake... I really want a piece.. Talk me out of it please.

Don't have the cake it's not worth it. I cheated today. I was down 22lbs.
I feel like I've set myself back. I was ready to go onto OWL and now, I'm going to have to continue on induction. yey.
You'll gain water weight from it and then you'll freak out and what if it takes you longer to get back into the groove of things (ketosis)?
You're going to be heartbroken and upset, and you'll feel disappointed. Keep your eye on the goal and keep on plan.
I don't know what rung you're on, but it's just not worth it. Don't set yourself back.

i agree...eat all the meat, cheese, and salad, and just stay away from the cake. more importantly, SEND THE LEFTOVERS HOME WITH SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I brought an almond pound cake to a party tonight. If you're on the nut rung by then, maybe you could bring that. No icing, but it's rich and yummy and one slice is almost enough. Otherwise, there are lots of kinds of cheesecake and all of them are extremely yummy! Even if you decide to skip dessert entirely, it's just a dumb cake anyway and the whole point of a shower has nothing to do with cake at all! Most cakes look better than they taste and you'll feel much better the next day if you stick to the plan.

I had a few cheats during my trip to Memphis. In all honesty it just wasn't worth it. The short time that I enjoyed the food was not worth the 3 day headache I had during reInduction. I felt like crap. Try the sugar free cheesecake as Lauren suggested!!

Re: planning a baby shower ala Atkins

My hubby took us out to eat last night to celebrate my birthday since we sorta skipped it last Thursday. I had a slice of sugar free vanilla cake (the kids insisted I had to have cake and I caved--what can I day--lol) and let me tell you---I wish I'd said no. IT WASN'T WORTH THE HEADACHE I HAVE NOW, or the bloated feeling. I'm upping my water but I'll never do that again.

Why not make a diaper cake instead and serve small, take home--wrapped up sweets as favors. I'll bet no one will even notice there wasn't a cake!

I made one for my neighbor and she used it as a centerpiece.
