I just cannot get motivated to exercise. I am on induction and still in the real tired phase. Can any of you give me some ideas as to how you motivated yourselves to start exercising. And what kind of exercises did you start with? Walking, areobics, jump rope, what? Someone just tell me how to do this please. And yes I am drinking lots of water and taking a multi vitamin. I can however say that I sleep so good at night. I have not slept through the night in months until I started Atkins.

Re: I need a kick in the backside
I didn't start "traditional" exercise until a month into my reinduction. I used housework to fill my exercise quota. I also started doing things like parking further away from stores (corney but true) and taking more trips out to places like the market. So instead of going once a week to do a big shopping, I'd make several trips during the week getting a few small things.
After a month of this I started feeling better/stronger and joined in the abs and squats challenge. I also started my own personal pushup challenge which I kept up with in my stats page. I kept up with that for a month in addition to all the other stuff I'd been doing and I found that slowly I began to like exercise.
Now, when I exercise I feel better, have more energy, and my mood is better.
My advice would be to ease into it, take things at your own pace, and get in something small everyday. Before you know it, exercise will be second nature and you'll be sad when you miss a day!

Re: I need a kick in the backside
My advice is start small but start somewhere. Put your shoes on and walk outside, and walk for twenty minutes, brisk at times. Do it once, just see how refreshed you feel when its accomplished. Thats what I did, it improved my energy level.MiniGoal 1-240

Re: I need a kick in the backside
Maybe tell yourself you only have to walk for 10 minutes. Bet you do more once you get started, but if not 10 minutes of walking at a brisk pace might be a good place to start.Start 6/15/07

Re: I need a kick in the backside
Don't exercise.
Seriously.
Wait until you get the famous ketosis burst of energy.
If you're tired, rest in your spare time.
The vast majority of people don't start moving around a lot until after the second week of induction anyway.

Re: I need a kick in the backside
I was a total NON-EXERCISER when I started. I used affirmations, quotes, and joined exercise challenges to get me into exercising. If you have to be accountable to others and know that you'll be letting your team down if you don't do it, then for me that encouraged me to do more.
I had a weight-loss buddy that was the best support for me. She and I reported nightly as to what we had done the day before.
Exercise is important. It tones you, burns calories, increases your metabolism and gives you a boost in energy and attitude. Don't talk yourself out of it, just do it!! Do it and after a week or two, it becomes a habit. Measure so you'll see the results - that is so motivating to watch your body melt.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: I need a kick in the backside
My advice, tune into the next episode of the biggest loser!! That does it for me
Seriously though, throw your shoes on and take a short walk. Get your body moving. Even housework can provide quite a great workout. Important thing is to get your body moving in some sort of a work out every day. I have to really push myself to climb on my treadmill or gazelle. Most days I like to just get a good walk in. Put the baby in the stroller and go for about 10-15 walk. Start out slow. Once the weight starts coming off, you will feel so energized and alive you will be running around exercising all the time

Re: I need a kick in the backside
Thanks everyone. I am going to start walking at night when the kiddos are asleep and my husband gets back from working out. The sad part is, my husband is a total hunk. Hard body, sexy and he loves me so much. I call him my "man trophy!" You'd think that would be motivation enough, right? Today, I will start to walk!!!
