  • Different In Every Way

Hi again... I'm not proud to say it but after 3 weeks on Atkins, I couldn't bear the thought of the same food and really longed for bread, juice and cake, and went off Atkins. But that only lasted 5 days and I am back again starting today.

I felt SO different off it, and don't know if it is because of non-Atkins food, or just a coincidence... but I felt extremely teary, depressed, had no interest in anything, was sad and scared!

But because I definitely changed physically with stiffer muscles, no suppleness, and felt heavy and lazier, then maybe my mind was as easily affected with the change of food? If so, I definitely need to be on Atkins!!

Now, I'm just wondering if I have to do induction for a whole 2 weeks? I will if I have to! I'll just do my very best to find new ways of cooking the food I can have.

    Thanks for any advice!

Yep .............. you do! Or at least I think you should ........... you know what to do and you know how to do it and you know it works so all of that combined should help you be successful once again ..........The key this time is to stick to it and move to OWL so you don't get bored and jump off again. Don't beat yourself up but also don't forget how you felt during this 5 days .......... keep a journal and re read it when you think you might want to cheat again ........ maybe the memories of those feelings will keep you on the right path this time around! You have a wealth of knowledge and experience here on this board to glean from .......... you will do great!!!!!!!

Absolutely you do. You never overcame your cravings before.

Definately do the two weeks, very strictly. Then move immediately to OWL, where you will be able to add types of foods to your menu.
      Start date: 7/29/2007

      Scale: SW:235 CW:193
      GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

      Mini goals:
      215 - met 9/10/07
      205 - met 10/17/07
      195 - met 2/20/08
      180

      I survived a two-month stall!

Anytime, girlfriend! That's what STAC is all about.

By the way, you really will love OWL. A lot of us who did extended induction before have decided to start OWL immediately after induction this time. It's really wonderful. You may not be able to have orange juice for awhile, but it won't be long before you can have things like berries and cottage cheese.

Just focus on the next two weeks. Explore the various recipe forums and threads. It's much easier to do a strict, no-cheats induction if you know it's just for 2 weeks.

OWL is the key to not skipping out on us. lol. If you're stuck in the induction loop you'll get bored and say--I WAN'T FOOD!! Atkins never said to stay on induction forever. As a matter of fact, if you do that you run the real risk of damaging your body.

So, redo induction cleanly--make that commitment because everytime you restart induction your body reacts and it gets harder to drop the weight. Once you finish your 14 days--move on up the ladder. Go through the veggie rung quickly and jump into dairy.

You can do it!! Don't leave the sugar in control.

I feel the same way when I go off plan, I know I can't have certain things, they send me into a tailspin downward and it's hard to gain control and I'm not talking weight but the depression, feeling of fatigue, no desire to do anything.... so when the urge to have ice cream and other things this weekend sprang - I remembered - you could do that and waste several days or you can go and grab yourself something good and healthy and stay on your plan.... I stayed on the plan....

Get yourself organized and never be without anything to grab. It will become a habit before you know it and once you are feeling terrific again, it will be easier.

I'm on day 8 of induction levels but have already started planning on what I can add after the 14 days!

              You can do this!

                Re: Different In Every Way

remember Induction is there to firmly shift you from carb buring metabolism to fat buring metabloism....it's a PHASE not FOREVER...It's purpose is specific to get you firmly into a ketogenic state, and then we move on to more low carb variety...Might want to get the DANDR book out and read more.....it''ll really help to know you have more variety coming, sounds like that would be very refreshing for your journey...
Your body does like low carb living, it proved it while you were off on that other stuff....work the program through the phases and really be transformed....
