Hey everyone! I have been doing low carb for 3 weeks and the past week and a half I have been bouncing between these same 2-3 lbs~ It was getting very frustrating! I had a cheat day yesterday and I'm back on track today...anyone ever done this? Results of this? I'm not weighing myself until Monday. I am gonna drink tons of water today and be extra good and exercise an hour....

Re: Had a cheat, but back on track
Hi Hollytingle! You did right by putting it behind you and getting back on track. Don't beat yourself up about it. Take one day at a time. Getting on the scale everyday will get you in trouble. Weigh once a week if you can. You are doing right by flushing your system with water. Can I ask what you had on your cheat day?MOTHEREARTH AKA SHERRI "HOW THE WORLD TURNS AS I SEE IT"

Re: Had a cheat, but back on track
oh gosh, a bunch!! lol
It was a planned cheat day....but I still ate way too much. I'm too ashamed to even put it on here!
I ate at Pizza Hut...couple pieces of pizza and sweet tea
Then I ate at Olive Garden...seafood alfredo and some breadsticks and sweet tea...then a doughnut!!!!
But I am doing better today!! I promise! It was fun while it lasted but now its time to get my butt in gear!!!

Congratulations for jumping right back in the saddle. You can do it. Write out what tempted you to falter and make a solution for avoiding it in the future. Thinking out a plan before hand is the best way to stay on track when temptations arise.

Re: Had a cheat, but back on track
Good to hear you are back on track today. You may want to pick up some L-Glutamine to help with cravings. You can take up to 3000 mg a day. I take 1000 mg after my evening meal because I use to be a night time muncher. It really helps! Wishing you a great Atkins Day!MOTHEREARTH AKA SHERRI "HOW THE WORLD TURNS AS I SEE IT"

Re: Had a cheat, but back on track
Hey Holly, I am so glad you feel comfortable with the people here to share your heart...See, arms open wide.
I was wondering if you have had a chance to read much about the diet we are all on?
Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? The thing that is soooo amazing about our diet is that it is ketogenic, meaning we actually flip a switch metabolically from storing our excess carbs that our bodies don't need, as fat. We eat and do what ever we all do, and our bodies use the carbs are first choice of fuel, but when there is "left over" our metabolic responce is to store it as fat.... When doing Atkins, we reduce our carbs so our bodies much find another fuel source, and after three days, our bodies start burning fat for fuel, thus the fat-burning metabolism....When we cheat, we CAN actually flip our metabolism back the other direction...something we dont want to do...and some people not knowing this, actually mess up their switch, making it hard to get into ketosis and fat burning...
As frustrating as it is to "wait it out" with our bodies going slow, hang in there, and try to avoid flipping your switch back and forth....
There are alot of diets out there that allow for a cheat day, but ours is specifically changing our metabolism to fat burning....something to cherish!!!! if you know what I mean.
Glad to have you around!74 8/1/06

Re: Had a cheat, but back on track
Just one other thing. Perhaps you need to target NO CHEAT rather than a planned cheat day. Personally, I just can't think that way or I can't meet my goals. Just an idea...no criticism!
You CAN do this!

Re: Had a cheat, but back on track
Glad You Are Back On Track. I Have Had Several Planned Cheat Days And I Always Eat Too Much Or They Are Extended Beyond The One Day.
But, I Know That I Will Have Spontaneous Cheat Days....although I Try My Best To Be Cheat Free.
