          Re: Yoga

I have video on demand through the cable and I think there is a yoga show somewhere in the exercise channel--I'll take a peek after the kids get to bed.

I tried yoga a few years before through the tv with that guy who comes on early in the am. I was pathetic--lol. I have been stretching on my own though about 4 or 5 times a week and I'm noticing that I can stretch more deeply and I'm more flexible than I used to be.

I'd love to do a yoga challenge--is it a challenge or just a daily thread type thing? If I find a program on the tv, I'm in.

I would like to try yoga again. I asked my daughter if she would like to do it together after the twins are born and her doctor gives the ok. But I don't want to wait that long. Give me all your recommendations for dvds

              Re: Yoga

I googled 'Yoga for Weight Loss' and several different choices came up. Do you happen to know the name of the instructor for the one you recommended? I want to be sure that the instructor is inspiring enough to keep me interested.

I got a Tai Chee DVD and only played it once because the woman's monotone was so boring.

                      Re: Yoga

okay - I know I'm about 3 days behind with this one - dang, I just can't keep up!

I took a yoga class at the rec center last year and once I stopped laughing at the names of the poses (that I still can't pronounce) and my inability to do them, I really liked it and relaxed.

And now, reading all of your messages, I'm going to start doing it again! My favorite pose was the boat one...laying on your stomach and grabbing your feet overhead until you rocked like a boat...can't remember what the heck it's called. Maybe it's time for Yoga for Dummies!!

I'm trying to figure out what sort of thread to set up, and what sort of challenge. Then we can all do as we like and report!

                          Re: Yoga

I thought I had a yoga dvd at home...I had a master plan of getting up early this morning to stretch...might help some of the problems I've been having with my sciatic...got up early this morning...no yoga dvd. So - I lacklusterly (is that a word?) rolled around with my exercise ball.

I ordered the Yoga for Weight Loss yesterday from Amazon.

                          *sigh*

I got a Yoga DVD yesterday and I love so far. When I was little I was in gymnastics, its great to get back to basics. Plus, its really relaxing and peaceful.

That is, when they cats don't attack my hair when my head is upside down lol.

                              Re: Yoga

We should do a yoga challenge in the exercise forum!!! I'm not sure if you are up to running or organizing a big boardwide challenge though? We'd need a graphic for the challenge and the goalies.

If not we could have a mini one here for the STACers.

We could pledge something like times per week/month to do our yoga so say I'd pledge to do my yoga 4 times a week--that'd make 16 times in the month. So I'd put in my sig something like, yoga challenge: 0/16. Then everytime I work out I up that first number.

What do you think? Since Nov. is fast approaching and there are a few of us waiting on delivery maybe we can start a sign up thread for Nov. 1?

I'd like a mini challenge here, because I want to just hang out with you guys. Is that ok?

I was thinking we could assess ourselves at the beginning, and then chart our progress (stamina, stretch, ability to hold) and post regularly about how it's making us feel?

I'd love a stac yoga graphic, but I dunno how to do them things.

I could organize a challenge for here starting Nov. 1 if someone else could do the graphic.
