  • The November STAC yoga club challenge is coming!

    A huge number of us have been inspired to get into (or back into) yoga. We're going to have a challenge, starting November 1.

    Most of us have tapes or are buying them (amazon.com has a bunch). If you aren't super limber and strong, find something that has modifications for each pose, and/or is for absolute beginners!

    Shortly before November 1, I will post a "join up" thread. You'll post the number of days you pledge to do yoga for the month of November. Each time you do it, you will post again.

    We'd also like everyone to report on how it is when they start, and what they notice as they get into the month. I can assure you that most of us are pretty awkward and have trouble maintaining poses, but this will improve as time goes by.

    So, think about how often you want to do it, order your dvd or video, or sign up for some classes!

    I'm in on this one! Excited about it too! One of the things that started to go bad was my knees when I gained weight from having the kids and then just because.... yoga was a big help for that!

    (now where are those DVD's I have?)

      I'll give it a shot! Tricky with a weak left leg and knee but the stretching and using weak muscles will be great for it!

        Amazon finally shipped my dvd, so I should be ready to start...can't WAIT!

          I am still waiting for my DVD's to show up. I ordered two so I can alternate them and not get bored. I have a yoga mat but you can use a couple of folded towels for the floor exersizes. Don't be worried about doing the exersizes perfectly at first especially if you have bad knees or hips. I have osteoporosis and get pains in my hips when I try to sit cross legged . I compensate by only folding one leg instead of both to take the stress off the joints.

          I can not wait to restart yoga at my own pace. I may take a lession from the Flylady and set my alarm for 15 minutes a day for the first week. I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

            I've been looking around and finally hit upon this one. It's got great ratings and I'm definately inflexable--lol. It should get here by the end of the week!!

              I think I will take this challenge too. I already have a yoga dvd and matt plus PBS has yoga and you can also often find yoga on fittv and comcast ondemand
