  • Sadder than sad..but you know..upbeat!!

Have a bit of a challenge here. Living weekdays in a hotel for work and working crazy hours. I have a tiny fridge, no microwave or stove, but have a george foreman grill hidden in my suitcase! I've been cooking hamburgers and having spinach and canned white chicken w/spices salads for lunches...tiny tomatoes, olives and sugar free jello. Tomatoes and gouda are my breakfast because it's nearly impossible to cook eggs in this place. Also, supershy to use the shared gym around here. This is my 3rd day back on this WOE and tonight I got some hot wings delivered for a change (just have Frank's hot sauce on them)...but I totally know that I overdid it. I just want to be pretty for my wedding!! Last time I lost and gained back 50 lbs...plus some. Feeling totally discouraged...any simple recipe ideas to get me back on track?? anyone?? *cries*

you are making me so sad!! hang in there, pinklady. here is an idea, can you get to a local grocery? if so, just buy a rotisserie chicken and eat it plain, you can also save some in a plastic sandwich baggie for lunches at work. Also string cheese is small and can fit in little fridge. when i have traveled, i have also relied on pepperoni and deli turkey and swiss cheese rollups with a little mayo (a small jar won't take up too much room). hope this helps, hang in there. you can do it!!

Re: Sadder than sad..but you know..upbeat!!

Ok this is try number 3 to write this. ( my 18 month DD kept pressing buttons on the laptop and losing everything I wrote. )

Anyways....You are doing great!! You are almost through the toughest part! I know how you feel about the Hotel gym. It is not for me either! Have you thought about using the hotel stairs? I like to start at the lobby and go to the 1st floor. Then I go across the 1st floor to the other set of stairs and take those to the 2nd floor. Then I keep doing that until I get to the top and then I start to work my way down back to the lobby. I'd keep doing that until I have gotten in my 30-45min workout. In my experience not many people take the stairs and you won't run into too many people!

I hope this helps! Just remember you can do this and think of how proud of yourself you will be when you have made it through this tough part! You Can Do It!!

Re: Sadder than sad..but you know..upbeat!!

I'm thinking somebody's been watching How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days.........sorry, I just had to giggle about the "but...up beat".

          Any ways....

Exercise...I'm thinking find a channel on one of those stations that has early morning and/or late evening exericse programs and do one of those. When we were on vacation this summer at the coast, there was at least 3 exercise shows going on with the cabel these days. What's that guy that does exercise on the beach...Guideo, Guardo, something like that. You could even do simple things like walk in place really fast while watching the morning news, do 100 crunchers, do 50 jumping jacks, walk more in place, do yoga poses....and still call it a good exercise.

As for the food....you're rockin' in my point of view! Have you thought about cooking an egg on the Foreman grill? You could be daring and cook sauasage, bacon, and/or eggs on that mini sucker. I was thinking of the frozen sausage patties you could toss on the grill, toss on an egg behind the sausage patty so it doesn't slip, then after you've flipped the egg, and the sausage is cooked, put a slice of real cheese inbetween. Just a thought!

          Good luck!

It looks like you were VERY prepared for your absence from home. Great planning. Portion control is another issue that has to come from practice. I finally had to buy 'children's dishes' for myself so that I could get a grip on it. You're doing great....I just know with the control you showed in planning to eat right - that you'll make your goal. Smile and get a positive attitude about the wonderful life you have ahead of yourself and how beautiful you'll be on your wedding day!

u know dinner doesnt always have to be warm...at least for me.
how about a big fat greek salad, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and cucumber, olive oil, pepper and salt and there u go.
i personally top it with some delicious feta but thats not for everyone.
anyway, salad just needs a knife and a plate and this definitely keeps me satisfied for hours.
i do feel for you though, i couldnt go a day without a proper place to cook and i hate having to change my diet for reasons i cant influence...i usually gain when that happens even though i dont go off plan :/
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

Pinklady, you're very creative, and doing great! I just had a bowl of cauliflower and brussel sprouts w. butter, and 2 sausage patties for breakfast. You could easily do that for breakfast too, but what you're doing already sounds terrific. Best of luck to you... how long is your hotel stay?

I would suggest jicama as one of your veggies. I don't know if it's in season all year round, but I think it is. Anyway, you can just chop it in the morning and keep the rest in your little fridge. I love it with lime and a tiny bit of salt. It's good Or I eat it plain. I really like it.
I would do the chicken idea that Partytrouble posted.

If you have a grocery store w/ a salad bar you could get a smaller container of hard boiled eggs. I do that when I've been to busy to boil & peel them. I cut them up w/ a dash of chili powder and a teaspoon or two of mayo.

Loved the stair climbing idea. I'll have to remember that one next time I travel for work.

Hey Pink, you ARE resourceful and really want to be back on Atkins. Keep pressing through you will be so gald you did. Just think how much easier it will be at home. I would also vote for the stairs. I walked stairs at the hospital when my Mother was ill. It was a great form of getting some workout done! Made me feel sooooo proud!
