Re: November's Stac Yoga Club Challenge!

OK, I just finished my first 'real' workout (I've been watching the DVD so I could 'get it'). I think I'm going to die. How could I possibly be this out of shape?
    What a wake-up call.

Checking in .......... I did my first work out on the 2nd it was an 18 minute one and then my second one this morning the 5th it was a 13 minute one ........ both were Yoga work outs but completely different in content! I am using workouts on Excercise on demand because I don't have a dvd but I am liking it a lot!

so stats for me look like this :

      11/2 = 18 min
      11/5 = 13 min

Re: November's Stac Yoga Club Challenge!

I just finished my first workout. I was interupted 3 times though. First the bee keeper came to pick up two hives of bees and then I had two calls from egg customers wanting eggs. I sold 19 dozen eggs this morning along with two bushels of winter squash and 1/2 bushel of peppers. The workout was pretty good but I have to modify floor exersizes . My back and hips can not stand contact with the floor even though I use a floor mat. I will try a folded up blanket under the mat and see if that helps. I did 10 minutes of standing poses and 10 minutes of strenghth poses for my first session. Boy I am out of shape. Hope this gets easier and less painful as I go along.

Re: November's Stac Yoga Club Challenge!

I had to re-arrange my whole schdule this week. From now on, I'm going to do the yoga at night, great way to relax when I get home from work, plus I can yoga more often. My mornings are very full with the treadmill and weight training, plus I just woke up, I don't really need to relax lol.

So I'm trying for 4 times a week again.

Re: November's Stac Yoga Club Challenge!

I'm in for 2x/week, though I'm going to try to fit in 3x a week. I will definitely do Thursdays, as I teach a yoga/pilates class then, and Sundays, which is technically a rest day...and I'm going to try to get a session in on Tuesdays.

Make sure that you focus on breathing while doing yoga, inhale through your nose, exhale through your nose. You should be getting what's called the "ocean breath" which almost sounds like waves crashing on the beach, if you are doing it correctly. Instead of tensing muscles in difficult poses, focus on your breath and create that ocean breath.

My favorite way to do yoga is to find a CD that you like (instrumental, no vocals, something relaxing/soothing/yet energetic) and create your own workout. This is easy to do after you get more comfortable with it. If you want, I can post the poses/flows that I do for my weekly classes to give you some ideas.

I did another work out this morning for just 10 minutes but it was harder so it felt longer ........ LOL I have terrible balance and some of these require good balance maybe that will come with time ........ I feel like I miss alot by rebalancing myself constantly ....... My kids copy me so now Olivia thiks that tapping your foot down 30 times in one pose it what I'm supposed to be doing ........ She said to me this morning Mommy lets do it again and starts putting her one foot up by her knee and then tapping it down on the floor repeatedly ........ LOL shes 2 1/2 and making fun of me allready!

                      Heidi

Oh that makes my 3x this week .......... I am enjoying it even thugh my work outs are breif compared toa full length dvd I just don't have the money to buy one right now so I am relying on the free tv ones ......

                        Warrior II/crescent pose

Side angle pose (elbow on knee)
                        Side angle pose (bound)

                        Half moon pose
                        Revolved half moon pose

                        Cow face pose

And Sunday was 4/4. I am really getting better at this. Before I had to use some props and slowly I'm not needing them as much anymore. I also feel confident enough to experiment a little.
