  • My new favorite way to preapre a meal ......

Has anyone tried the new Ziplock Steamer bags?????? Oh my goodness what a godsend these are! I have been using them this week and have to say I am addicted. You can use fresh or frozen veggies and either raw or cooked meat but you have a complete meal done in 5-10 minutes all on one bag that you throw away! Talk about convenience and cooking something delicious in a pinch.
You have to play with the times to figure out how you like your veggies to come out but the food is delicious and steamed perfectly everytime for me!

    Here's a few things I have done:

    Toss in the bag:

Fresh Broccoli, onions, peppers, muchrooms, a tsp of soy sauce, 2 boneless chicken thighs cut up to bite size, and 2 TBS of butter .......... 7 minutes later Wala delicious dinner !!!!!

Frozen green beans sliced onions and sliced chicken sausages ......... 7 minutes

Diced tomatoes, ground beef, onions, Zuchinni peppers mushrooms 10 min ............ Yum Yum

The list goes on and on and it's just a perfect cooker!

Look for them and try it if youhaven't you'll love it!

And you don't have to do mixed meals like that they steam any veggies perfectly!

Do you microwave the meat also? or is it pre-cooked?
    Sounds quick & easy, thanks!!

Mmm. I'm struggling to see the difference between using one of these and just microwaving in a normal microwave proof reusable container. Microwaving food is a steaming process anyway, so using a disposable bag just seems like adding some more plastic to landfill without much advantage. Maybe I'm missing something?

Well I have yet to cook anything in a plastic bowl and not get dry peices on the outside and meats that all stick together ect......... nothing uniform and tastey and also dishes to do afterward with a bowl so hot you can't touch it for awhile so for those reason alone I like it ......... For me it's a toss up between garbage versus using water and detergent to wash a dish ....... I'm not gonna battle the environment thing because we all have a cause and I get that, and respect it as well.

If your interested give it a try if not thats fine too I just happen to really like them and thought I would share

Oh and msmeliss58 I have used both cooked and uncooked and both come out great. There are several ideas and recipies on the package insert as well which can be easily adapted to this WOE.

I've seen those but never tried them (I prefer my electric steamer). I thought they were just for veggies. I didn't know you could do meat in them too. May have to check them out.

Thanks for posting your adventure with those bags. I wondered how well they worked. Maybe I'll give 'me a try next pay day.
