  • Or 3rd or 4th time in....

Ok, so I am not a second timer...I am a third or fourth timer! I figure that one of these times I will get it right! I am back again after being gone for over a year! I did good while I was here last year. Then my husband and I moved to Mexico to do missionary work in an orphanage! Did not low carb there, but lived on the 4th floor with 60 stairs to climb each time I left my apartment...which was often! I lost like 30 pounds all together there. Then left Mexico and gained 15 to 20 pounds back.

So here I am again! New day, new determination! My husband was diagnosed with High Blood Preasure...so he desperately needs to lose weight. There for there is no more on again and off again for me. We are in this together!!

Today being day one has well...sucked! my hubbie and I got let go from our job today, and then to top it out...got into a minor car accident with the CHURCH vAN!!!! Yeah...so now we are just going to stay home and treat ourselves to something low carb wonderful!!! HELP!

Hey Tirtle, I remember you from when I was here last year. I just returned a few weeks ago myself, after falling off the wagon for a while. Sounds like you had a rough day. You AND your husband got let go?... how awful! Did you see it coming at all? How long were you guys in Mexico. I envy you guys...I would love to do full-time mission work in another country (particularly Peru, but willing to go wherever God leads). Anyway, I hope you and your husband have a better day tomorrow. Keep us posted.

Hi TirtleBaby - I'm a second timer. I guess I consider myself only a second timer because I'm not counting all those times I started "again" in the last few years and quit after a day, or two days. Or those times when I "started" but didn't really follow the plan.

I don't count those as starts, just dabbles. It wasn't really a start for me until I re-read the book and realized I had forgotten a LOT.

Sorry to hear about your first day, what a way to start!

Hi tirtle its nice to have you back on the board. I'm so sorry to hear about your job loss. I know this isn't exactly the same but the principle behind it is the same. I used to be a very addicted to smoking I must have tried 30 or 40 times to quit. I became the family joke oh brenda is going to try to quit smoking again. Each time I tried I would be successful for a couple of days then I would give in and go back to smoking. But I never quit trying each time I tried again I learned some thing about my addiction. Today I have been smoke free for just over 7 years. Just hang in there it doesn't matter if you have tired twice, thirty times or one hundered and thirty times. The important thing is to never give up on yourself. This is a wonderful board with a lot of great people. Were here to help you anyway we can. I know you and your can successful at losing the weight you need to.

          Welcome aboard, you guys!

We call it the "Second time around" club, because the "Oh, probably the two millionth, five hundred thousand, eighty seventh time around club" is just too long, you know what I mean? <grin>

This is my third or fourth, unless, as Zam said, you count the billion times I started, went two or three days, then ate a Little Debbie Snack Cake BOX. What counts is NOW.

So, start posting daily, join our yoga club challenge if you like, see about the other exercise challenges that are in the exercise forums, and feel free to ask, share, and solicit advice! We're at all stages of this thing. And we ALL know what you're going thru!
          Start date: 7/29/2007

          Scale: SW:235 CW:193
          GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

          180

          I survived a two-month stall!

            Wecome Tirtle, and Welcome Zam!
Zam, I love what you said, "I didn't begin again until I read the book" what a great way to begin to get a handle on things...Reading the book and doing it right will bring about alot of success. You will also see where you maybe did it "your way" last time, that's pretty common with alot of us....
We are glad you are here and like Evermind said, "post daily and join the challenges"...they help so much! Get ready for some amazing energy later in the week!
