Holly when you do Atkins isn't it a TOTAL switch from low calorie to low carb...It's all about reducing the carb counts, and switcing the metabolic switch from the keotgenic state....Do you have to book? This is a higher calorie diet, and the book explains the whole process of a ketogenic diet...If you come from a low fat or low calorie mentality it can be really tough to trust the whole process, that's why we all go back to the book so often!!!!

yEAH, i can see the mentality thing....I just wanted to know if the weight still dropped off after you were already on the low calorie diet? Or did you just start from normal eating? Thanks!

Hi Holly, I was doing a low fat/low cal diet for about 4 months prior to starting Atkins. I had dropped 30 pounds in the first three months and then lost nothing for the fourth month but continued to do the diet though I hated every moment of it and constantly had problems with cravings.
When I switched to Atkins I was 300+ pounds and lost right around 20 pounds during induction. I have continued to lose pretty steadily though of course slowing down as I near goal.
