  • Trying not to give up

Hello Everyone. Maybe its SADD or my Bipolar Disorder, but I do not feel as if I have enough energy to stay on Atkins. I am so tired I cannot even do the Yoga . Walking hurts, I have a headache and I just want to eat normally like everyone else. I am glad that I have managed to lose 17 pounds since September 2 but I feel like I can't keep this up. I don't know why I keep coming back here. YOu guys are so positive and motivated it just makes me feel bad because I don't feel the same as the rest of you. I may lerk here on and off but until I can devote more time and energy to this WOE , I am no longer going to post. Thanks everyone for all your help. I guess I am just not ready.

Re: Trying not to give up

I know I will probably get yelled at for this advice, but I am gonna say it anyway. Even if you feel that you cannot stay with Atkins (I know many people who simply cannot for many reasons) I want to say this... I heard good advice the other day from someone I really respect. She said you may not be able to control the exercise you do (because I was complaining about being in too much pain with my arthritis and having a "why me" kind of say) but she said you can control what you eat... Even if you cannot exersise you can still control what choices you make during the day and evening with food. You have control over what you buy from the grocery store, what you decide to consume.

So, change your way of eating to the way you feel it needs to be changed. If it isn't going to be atkins that you choose to do, then look at what you feel you are able to do. Cut out the bad carbs that we all know puts the weight on, the breads, the pastas. Try to eat what is good for you, what your body should be having. Chicken, fish, eggs, fruits, veggies, salads. Your main goal in coming here in the beginning was for support in losing weight and the desire to lose weight and get healthy. I can come here and say oh give Atkins another try. Everyone slips up. What I have realized latley though is we all have a choice of how we want to go about our weight loss journey. And I can give encouragement to stay on, but if someone has made the decision for whatever reason to not stay on Atkins then that is there decision.

Maybe you will come back in the future, but for right now you have decided not to do Atkins. I and everyone needs to respect you in your decision. In the end it all comes down to what you decide you want to do for you I encourage you to eat sensibly, eat more healthy than what you probably have in the past( I know why I am where I am today and it wasn't eating the way I should have been!!), and most importantly don't give up on yourself and your weight loss goals. I know people who have Bi-polar and it does make life more difficult at times than others. Maybe that is playing a part in your decision. Maybe you need to concentrate on some other things right now.

    Good luck to you!!

        Mommagoose -

The same thing happens to me. About 4-9 weeks into the woe, I suddenly have NO energy, am achey, and feel like it is an effort just to put one foot in front of the other. I take multivitamins and other supplements, and even they don't do much, if anything at all.

My experience is that this happens about every 3-4 months of Atkins after that first time, at least for me. There's nothing to do but get through it. I try to at least get some exercise, though I can't do what I usually do. I rest a LOT. I try to remember to keep chugging the fluids, but sometimes I'm too tired to even drink water!

I hope you don't give up. I think it's just that our bodies are doing something powerful with regard to fat and muscle, and that leaves little energy for awhile to do the actual living activities we all are so used to.

For me, it lasts about 2 weeks, sometimes a bit more. Hang in there! PM me if you want.

        I survived a two-month stall!

Re: Trying not to give up

I agree with Evermind, sometime I feel that way too. But nothing will change if you go back to what you did before. Why did you come here in the first place? I want to lose weight and be healthy, its more important to me than a lot of other things in my life. More important to me than what I "want". These two goals have become something I "need".

I hope you find what you need.
          10/18 ~ 240 Start
          1st Goal ~ 220 Done
          2nd Goal ~ 200 Done
          1/9 ~ 198
          3rd Goal 180
          4th Goal 160
          5th Goal 140
          Final Goal: 120-130

I'd never heard of that EM! But thank you - reading that post makes sense... I'm in week 4+ of no cheats etc and this week it's just been slow - not feeling like I want to do anything but sit in a hot tub and relax.

The first 4+ weeks I had so much energy I was thinking I must be cheating somehow to lose all the energy I had..... but it makes sense and I'll see what happens in the next week.
