Re: Just had to share ( pics of my future granddaughter)

Thank-you everyone for celebrating with me I can't tell you how thankful I am for Alyssa's health and to think the docs we're encouraging Courtney and Anthony to terminate. We are so blessed! I can't wait to hold her in my arms and share pics with you all in just about 6 weeks!

      Heidi,

I am so glad for you. My daughter had Choroid Plexus Cysts (which is what I believe you were referring to). Our doctors didn't advise us to terminate (we wouldn't have anyway, but they did warn us that they were soft markers for all sorts of horrific things. That's the point "SOFT" markers, which basically means almost everyone has them anyway. The technology now is getting so advanced doctors are seeing things they never saw before, so to err on the side of caution and avoid malpractice, they warn about everything. And scare poor, soon to be parents to death. Every single one of my kids (all 5 of them) had some issue in utero found on ultrasound, and all were fine (well except one, but that's another story, and she's fine now). My daughter who had the cycsts? She is a beautiful, happy, healthy 5 year old. I'm sure all will be well. Prayer can work wonders.

I agree.. I think doctors are afraid of being sued.. They doctors told my sister to terminate or select one of her twins..she refused and they are both now 4 1/2... I was with her one time at the doctors and they were doing an ultrasound and the doctor said..I just don't get how they are still surviving.. I wanted to say I do..because ONLY GOD has his hands in it.. But I stayed quiet. My sister said can you imagine how many do listen to the doctors and terminate

Sandy It is scarey and I am so glad your sisters ignored the docs as well and didn't chose to terminate one of her twins. With Courtney's situation it wasn't Choroid Plexus Cysts, I to have had those show up in Early US with my children who are now fine. The Cysts Alyssa had were all in the top and front of her head she had 4 that were large and seperate and one that was a mass of 6-8 all bunched together. At the time they were putting pressure on her brain and they told Courtney she would most likely suffer brain damage due to the fact that her brain wouldn't be able to develope correctly. She also had two very large pockets of fluid one in the front left side and one in the back of her brain. They talked about surgery immediately after birth for shunts and drainage tubes going into her stomach which would keep the fluid pressure down. It was all very scary, but given our faith termination was never an option regardless. We talked about all the possibilities pledged our support to her and Anthony no matter what and she went forward knowing that whatever God gave her, he would also give her the strength to deal with. Then we rallied for prayer and prayed daily for Alyssa. The consectutive US's showed some of the cysts shrinking but the mass was getting larger. They referred her to a pediatric neuro surgeon who talked about the surgery that would be necessary after her birth and all the success/ failure rates, what to expect ect .......... he especially was very negative talking with them about quality of life. We knew she would have to have a C-section and come early because the babies head wouldn't be able to push together through the birth canal like it needed to, but as you can imagine that was the least of the worries .......We continued to pray and they did US every two weeks and watched ........ by the third US the mass started to shrink and the fluid was about 1/2. We knew this was an awesome sign and continued our prayer vigil it was two US later that they said they held out great hope that she would actually be fine but were still concerned about the size of the cysts mass that remained, we had complete faith and told the docs not to worry that we fully expected them to be gone by the next US, they warned us about being to hopeful but also stated their hope as well since they were seeing it with their own eyes. The next US showed the cysts and fluid completely gone and it was confirmed with this last US at 32 weeks! Courtney is now 35 weeks and we are just waiting for her birth. It can be explained away a million and one ways but I know what I know and that is that Little Alyssa is a gift from God to us and her life will have an amazing impact on those who know her. She was meant to be and will be a living miracle.

Re: Just had to share ( pics of my future granddaughter)

I just read this story all the way through. I have seen things like this time after time, where people turned to God and stuck to what they felt was the right thing, regardless. They positioned themselves and walked out what they believed. We have a story like that to a degree, concerning our daughter...she was born with a deformed hip and socket and it was detected at her 4 mo check up, followed by a few referals to peds. orthopedist, and xrays, they confirmed that she was deformed and put her in a brace that was so unusual....We gathered with our church family asking God for a reconstructive miracle. A week later I took her in for adjustments on this brace, which we would keep her in for 3months then plan surgery followed by a body cast for 6 mos...Well I took her in for xrays and calibration on the brace and they flooded the room with interns checking the rotation of her hips, followed by the head doctor of the whole hospital (not sure how that happended) and they said "this must be an act of God" because your daughter's hip is complete. I stared and was stunned...She has been fine since Nov of 91.

Our God is an awesome God!! He shows us everyday. I have been a christian my whole life and I have seen many miracles in my lifetime. The biggest miracle I personally have had was surviving the night of terror in which my son and I almost lost our lives by my ex husband. He planned and tried very hard to kill all three of us in Feb 2001. I prayed out to God to protect us and keep us safe and prayed for a miracle... Today my son and I am alive!!! And doing really well. God can heal the wounded, cure the sick. He does it everyday.
