  • Rough Night..

Well it started when I received a phone call around 7pm asking me to take place in an indoor farmer's market tomorrow from 1:30-4:30 at the Discovery Channel building. Only 6 vendors were being allowed in.

1 of my products is chocolate chip cookies - easy to make and I sell 3 for $1.00 - perfect for this type of event.

10:30pm I'm wide awake and everyone else is out. I decide to make the cookies I need for tomorrow (just 1 double batch)..... trouble is no one is around to do the taste testing. I (being the brilliant person I am) swear something is wrong with the dough because it just doesn't "smell" right So I taste it - and it tastes ok - and I spit it right back out!

So I made some "chocolate cream cheese mixture thing" yesterday (like a mousse almost) and have a bite of that to get the chocolate chip cookie taste out of my mouth. 1 tablespoon cured my need for something sweet (probably that TOM is approaching ) and water finished it off.

Gotta tell you - since I've started this WOE I have made at least 4 batches of cookies and never was it this bad of wanting to eat more - even before the taste test! That's why I think my TOM is coming because it is a rediculous craving. Luckily I think I have it covered for right now. But to fend it off - I needed to write about it.....

I can't bake anymore... just the smell is overwhelming to me, so what enters our house is store bought now. You did good spitting it out!

Wow I'm impressed! Good for you not swallowing that bite and then also acknowledging your need and finding a way to curb it. I think the key to getting past those obstacles is having a success plan to help and even on the spurr of the moment you made one and succeeded! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - that never occurred to me. I taste a lot when I cook, normally, and tweak the recipes as I go along. I have been pretty unhappy with my recipes as of late because I have not been able to taste them. Jeez - I wonder what my husband would do if he saw me spitting bites out over and over as I was preparing it!

                      Re: Rough Night..

Well the market thing was a lot of fun - the building we were in was actually the broadcast building for all the Discovery Channels - VERY COOL and we got a personal tour from the Director.

I gave away a bunch of the cookies afterwards (sold some during) and came home to find out my husband thought they were the best cookies I had made in a long time.... figures - LOL

I don't eat what I bake very often. I know sounds wierd - but I just don't do it. I love to make fudge, but don't like eating it... I make bread - nope don't like bread that much...... I bake when I'm upset or feeling a need to do something. Needless to say - my kids and husband get the best of the stuff Next week I'm making pumpkin pies for my husband to take to work and we use the pumpkins we grew so it's a little more work than usual. HOWEVER - I usually have someone on hand to do a quick taste if needed and last night of course since it was so late, everyone with their right mind in my house was asleep.

So the opportunity was incredible and will do again when offered. And I must say - I've gotta watch the Discovery Channel now
