  • Hi Everyone

Hi I'm Dee, Mother of five, wife of one. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I came to this board last year in October but did not start Atkins, I was weight watching and kinda low carbing, I just cut out bread and rice as I was breastfeeding and had lost 11 lb. I was 103 kg (227lb). Old habits are hard to break. I gave up on my self and recently found myself at 115kg (253lb)

So I decided enough was enough. I am no longer feeding my baby who is 17 months old now and just weaned, so I have been back on the Atkins diet, following it to the letter, I have read and reread the book but have not read past induction as I decided to do extended induction.

I didn't want to post any earlier as I felt like I needed to start first. I have also been exercising like a maniac. Making sure I do an hour minimum daily, it has sooo improved my wellbeing, I don't feel as tired or angry all the time, I am feeling enthusiastic, energetic, and just plain better about myself.
So here I am 3 weeks in and these are my stats.
Starting weight and heaviest weight (253lb) 115kg.
Current Weight (214lb) 97kg breaking the 100 was awesome, next goal is to break the 90.
So that makes my loss (39lb) 18kg to date, totally unbelievable to me, but I have been keeping record and my stats don't lie. I have taken a couple of pictures last week, so no actual start pic, but I was still over 100kg in the photo, I will post it when I work out how to. So I am here I would really love to be below 90kg (198lb) by Christmas.
Looking forward to getting to know you ladies and gents. I am ready to stay focused, I have not cheated in three weeks so I'm off to a good start, Christmas will be a hurdle but I am hoping to stay on track, I know now that bread, potatoes and rice are not my friend. I don't need them. I'm feeling good.

                    Re: Hi Everyone

                    Thanks, guys,
Yeah being on my own most of the time and trying to find the time and space for that matter to exercise can be a challenge with 5 kids hanging around. I have two in school and have 3 youngins at home, IF I can get all three down for a napduring the day I will chuck on Billy Blanks and do some kickassing, lol. If not and more often then not I am exercising after they go to bed. This is the safest and best time . I used to lay in bed and eat a block of chocalate and the manditary diet coke to go with it. I have many reasons for needing to get this weight gone. I have alot of back and knee pain. I have heart palpatations constantly and am always out of breath when I exert myself even a little, I need to get fit and healthy. I get really down about myself, I refuse to look at myself fully in a mirror and almost refuse to have pictures taken I want to play with my children, oh and the anger and bitterness I feel inside needs to go. Right now I am a fat, bitter, depressed and overbearing woman and heaven help anyone who goes against me. THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE. I am not this person,I don't want to be this person and no one else will change this for me, I have to do it myself, for myself. I want to feel sexy, right now I feel like the blob. Not attractive in the slightest, I don't like my husband touching parts of my body because I get really self conscious of my huge flaws. After carrying around excess weight over the last 10 years and being pregnant 5 times I have the dreaded apron. You know the fold of fatty skin that lap laps at the front, I seriously do not and can not believe that anything other then surgery will fix it totally, although I am sure I can reduce it somewhat with this WOE and a solid exercise plan. I want to wear and look good in normal sized clothes. I want to stop thinking fat. Although I am very happily married, when (and this happens maybe twice a year) I go out for a night on the Town with my girlfriends, it would be nice to think others found me attractive instead of replusive and only good enough to mind purses. Don't get me wrong I'm not interested in getting a bit on the side, Gawd my life is already stretched to the limit and I have spent the last 11 years training this one and I'm still perfecting him, lol. It would just be nice that's all. Oh and I can't tell you how good it's going to feel when I buy and wear a normal pair of jeans. I'm staying on track and refuse to cheat.
My daily menu seems a little constant but I add and change things around.
                    Breakfast
2 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, sometimes and omlette with a little bit of onion, tomato and avacado.
                    Lunch
Basically sticking to meat and salad either chicken, steak, ham or tuna with a salad of lettuce, cucumber, capsicum (pepper), avacado and tomato and cheese and a dollop of either sour cream, or egg mayo or mustard.
                    Dinner
Is difficult as I sometimes have to cook mine seperately even if I'm really tired.
                    I'll have
Steak, lamb chops, chicken or mince with green beans, a bit of cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli.
Snacks I'm sticking to the cheeder cheese, salami, olives and a bit of diet jelly (jello) and a few dollops of heavy cream
I have also switched to decaf coffee, splenda and watered down cream for my morning coffee.
I can do this, I want to do this. I did up an inspiration wall right infront of my treadmill to keep me enthused and motivated, My DH will be home in 4 weeks, he left to go back to work and I was 115kg(round and rolly polly), today on the scales (I know I need to stop looking at them everyday, but I feel lighter and lighter so I am compelled to weigh and measure myself... anyway) today on the scales I am 96kg (not so round) (212lb) 2 more pounds down, 6 more kilo's til my Christmas goal . I want to blow him away with how much I've melted. I know it will slow down shortly, but right now I am enjoying and being motivated by the changes inside myself. Well off to start the day, kids are ready for school and there are three piles of laundry with my name on it. Ahhh Monday's.
                    Bye Dee

                        Re: Hi Everyone

Lol Jess !!! Yeah I don't mind Sydney and it's beaches but to much population for me, lol. We are on the Gold Coast in Queensland (the best State ) it beats Manly and Bondi pants down, lol. We just moved here this year from Central Queensland the population of the Town I was in was about 2000 people. One primary school, one shop, two banks, 1 post office oh and 3 pubs, lol. Yeah I love summer, swimming, beaches, picnics, actually you can pretty much do that all year round here. We have all the theme parks here too, Obviously nothing like Disney but pretty cool. Australia Zoo (the Irwin's) is about an hour and a half drive from here, on the Sunshine Coast. Awesome place to visit. I read that you did a city trip and didn't see any animals, well don't fret Kangaroo's are just giant rabbits that wreck your car through their suicidal stupidity, they are in plague proportions in some parts. Koala's on the other hand are endangered, they don't breed like Kanga's, oh I mean rabbits, they are so cute to look at, but can be as vicious as a ferel cat. Emu's saw them all the time back up north as well as Echidna's. Oh yeah not to mention the snakes and spiders. Since moving to the city we don't see any animals, besides domestic ones, bit of a shame really. I hope you come back sometime soon and explore my neck of the woods, rianforest, beaches, little qiuet get away places and hustle bustle city life. Really have the best of everything. My DH told me to get my passport in order as he wants to take me overseas next year, even more incentive to lose weight, I haven't decided exactly what I want to do but It involves the U.S. I think I would like to see all the touristy places, lol. I would love a Caribbean cruise thrown in there I think, or maybe Hawaii. Any suggestions??

Touristy? The west coast states are beautiful and awesome, California, Oregon, Washington State....all beautiful. California has alot of tourist stuff, like Disney, Las Vegas is near by, and tho I've never been, there is enough there to last you forever....the Grand Canyon is on that side of the country....all pretty much worth the long flight over...
