Not a huge foot ball fan at all, but Brett Farve has just been made Sport Illustrated man of the year....and I read the article and I loved the simplicity of what He says about his performance year in year out:

"You do that by setting an example, by doing things the right way. I've always shown up, I've always been prepared, I practice every day," Favre said. "I practice hard. I study. No matter what happens on the field, I never point blame at anybody else. Everything I do comes back to leadership, the example I want to set."

I talk to kids in schools and when they talk about wanting to be a super star, I talk about the type of hard work pro athletes have to do...But I can easily translate this man's attitude into my lifestyle to.
    I work HARD
    I show UP
    I STUDY,
    I DON'T POINT THE BLAME

I want to keep these qualities in my life too..Character protects the gifts of a man or woman. These are simple things, hard to execute, but that's what makes someone shine!
We need these in our lives to be successful in our make-overs....this is a journey to a new level of living and executing daily life! Nothing spectacular but hard committed focus and living!

Re: Just wanted to share this

check out knowshon down at UGA. as a redshirt freshman, he gets back up and runs back to the huddle......doesnt walk, runs!! he is the most inspiring player georgia has seen since herschel walker (in my opinion). mark richt named him captain, i think, two or three times this season!! now although georgia will not be playing for a national championship......they will play in the sugar bowl on january 1st down in new orleans. this is a must-see game for even the so-so spectator. geogia will be facing one of the hottest QBs in the nation, in colt brennan, and hawaii is undefeated at 12-0.

and to think, i watched this kid (knowshon moreno) throughout his high school career!! go ahead and google his name, for a 20-yr old kid.....he sure gets a lot of attention.

please forgive me.....not to take away from brett favre's accomplishments or words.......he is an outstanding athlete, and might i add, i believe he grew up in louisiana not far from new orleans.

i love what you said, "he runs back to the huddle". I will watch that game, and I will watch this man. I love to see passion and sport shows it off a good bit...I love character and passion in all that I do....David Pollack had a huge passion too! Matter a fact, He was a good linebacker, but He could rally the NATION....

I love football because of people like Brett. He is amazing, I'm glad he won. Thanks Jess.

Go Bengals (we really miss Pollack) Yeah, not much hope left for wins this season, they really need some disipline in this team. Maybe they should all live this WOL with us, I know Chad eats McDonalds almost every breakfast, what a way to mistreat your body.

          I DON'T POINT THE BLAME"

And you also have a killer arm that breaks people's fingers

I need to work harder...I coast by way too much. Its like my dad always said, get the work done so you can do what you want, the harder you work the better the results the more time you have to do stuff you want to do.

Re: Just wanted to share this

Very inspiring. My brother was a track star in high school. I remember him running through rain, fog, snow and sunshine. My mom used to beg him to not go out in bad weather...but he told her if he wanted to achieve his goal of making state and getting a scholarship...he had to follow the steps to get there. I always remember his dedication and committment to himself when I'm feeling low. He was in the top 20 runners in the Nationals and he got his scholarship. He then went on to teach special olympics and train other athletes to be all they could be. He is my sports hero...and my favorite brother (only brother).

Thanks for your post today, Jess. It was a good motivational story to live by.

                  Very good Jess!
I love football just for those reasons... it's so good for the young developing men. The teamwork, the additude and spirit... all make the difference. Sometimes it seems like there is a star, but without the blockers and every person doing their job... the plays just couldn't happen. It's pretty amazing. As a mother of a football player, I am thankful for the charactor lessons he recieves. I love hearing 'what a great player' he is... but I know what went into his success... Getting up at 5 am all year long to go lift wts/run/ workout... watching game clips, studying the plays, practice everyday after school... and love... love for the game, his team mates and his coaches. He's the guy that bounces around with excitement he cannot contain before the game and fires up the team. He's my inspiration. When you see people like that on TV it's one thing, but when you raise a child up to become like that... it's completely different... it's awe inspiring... it's 'where did he come from...' I think I've said this before, but I'll say it again... he's my hero.... I want to be like my son when I grow up.

Sounds like Brett Favre deserves to be man of the year for Sports Illustrated. I'm so glad there are possitive role models for our sons.
