Need some support

I went to the Dr yesterday to re-check the kidney infection. i guess it is gone so the pee test shows. Dr checked my back pain and said he didn't think it was my kidneys, and did some manipulation to my back. i felt better for about ten mins. i have been super sleepy and retaining water like crazy. i told him this and he did a blood test for thyroid function ( i get the results today) . he asked if i had changed my eating habits drasticly in the last 6 months ( i had gained 30 lbs in 6 mths) i said no the weight just kept comming. he said he was stumped. i AGAIN asked about the wated retention (i'm convinced it's my kidneys) and he acted like it was not a big deal. i weighed in at 199.5 yesterday that is 5 lbs in ONE WEEK i am up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i seriously think the water i'm drinking is not all comming out. on top of that my g/f may have mono. could be why i'm soooooo sleepy! i'm going to have them check me for that as soon as they can get me in. I'm just so frustrated that the Dr. acts like i don't know my own body!! I KNOW SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! i just want to cry...i'm so tired of being fat!!!!!!!!! and now i'm depressed.

I would find a new Doctor who is better at listening to your concerns.

I think you are doing the right thing, going to the doctor with her sense that things are not right in your own body....Keep working with the medical pro's until you find the answers and relief! It must be very frustraing, knowing you feel this way and yet as one doctor pointed out to me, "its the practice of medicine, not the science of medicine"...in practice, sometimes it takes consistently pressing for more until you find what's wrong...it's not all cut and dried!

Definitely make the doctor hear you. If necessary, find anpther doctor who will. Listen to their opinions but if they will not hear you when you say something is not right then you need to seek a second opinion. *hugs*

i agree, 2nd opinion the second the doctor is stumped.
I wish you the best of health. I am sure there is a doctor out there that can properly diagnose you immediately.

thanks guys!!! i found out i have an underactive thyroid, so now i will be on meds for the rest of my life, but i will lose some of the weight i gained in the past 6 months and i will hopefully have more energy. i'm scared! does anyone else have this problem??? i start meds tomorrow so wish me luck!!!!

thanks guys!!! i found out i have an underactive thyroid, so now i will be on meds for the rest of my life, but i will lose some of the weight i gained in the past 6 months and i will hopefully have more energy. i'm scared! does anyone else have this problem??? i start meds tomorrow so wish me luck!!!!

Thank goodness there is a reason for something going on.. I to believe you sometimes have to fight the doctors about your health.. One doctor wanted to put me on antidepressants..I said I am SICK..and I kept pushing and pushing.. Well it was my gall bladder..it was working at a 9% level...
