  • New to the Area

    Hi--

I'm new to this site, but a 2nd time Atkins loser (I hope). I'm a tad discouraged because I started back on induction on 12/26 and have lost only a pound. Last year at this time, after 4 months of Atkins, I weighed in at a svelt 145. Since that time, I have been dating a great guy, who has encouraged my "fat & happiness". Except those two things, for me, are oxymorons. I am back to square one, and I am bummed at myself. I want to get back on track, and hang with those who support a bacon & eggs breakfast, sans the cinnamon rolls on the side, and exclaim, "Popcorn at the movies? That's disgusting!" It seemed so much easier last time. Anyhoo, I am happy to have discovered this website and hope to continue to be inspired by all of you.

Welcome back to Atkins - it's really great that you found this board because it is the best and will keep you motivated. Use it like crazy, post often and think about joining some of the challenges - the New Year, New You one starts in just over a week and will really help to keep you accountable and on track.

Give it a few days more and I'm sure you'll see the scales start to move, and don't forget to measure, it's the measurements that really count and they often move when the scales don't. In the meantime spend a little time re-reading the book and also the stickies in the Induction forum, which are a goldmine of useful information.

We STACers have found that often it's a bit more difficult to lose the second time around. Doesn't mean it won't happen. Step away from the scales like Dr. A said and measure and just work the plan and you will see the results you are looking for. Remember this is not a quick fix, this is a lifestyle change. You want it to last this time around so take your time And welcome to the greatest group of supportived people on the web.

          Twink -

Welcome back! Hang in there - soon, you'll see the scale move.
I've been on and off of Atkins for 5+ years. off while preggo, on after having the kiddies
This last time was by far the hardest. I waited about 1.5 years after I had my last kiddie to jump back on the Atkins wagon. Even though there were times when I thought I would give up, I wanted to be thin & I wanted it BAD - I didn't let myself cave. I kept at it and I'm 3.5 lbs away from goal (If I lost more,it would of course be lovely ) I've been on Since Sept 8 of this year and have lost 19.5 lbs. I feel awesome!

Keep at it, don't get discouraged, it will work - you can totally do this again

          Best to you!!!

Thanks for the encouragement! I just went to my mom's, we called up my sister, she ran over, everybody weighed in and measured. We agreed on 3 hours of exercise/week to start. I usually only do 30 minutes a pop, but mom does Silver Sneakers at an hour a pop. I'll be at the gym more, unless I lengthen my workouts. My mom is most interested in tying her shoes without having to hold her breath, my sister's most interested in not having to respond "I'm not pregnant," to moronish inquisitors, and I'm most interested in not having to invest in all new business suits and subsequently filing for bankruptcy. We're going to meet every Saturday for coffee, measure and to do a week (weak) in review. You're right teenieweeniecolleenie, I CAN do this again.

How awesome to have a support system at home like that... Is your mom and sister doing Atkins also? Don't burn yourself out over doing the exercise at first... Build yourself up.. You CAN do this!
