    Re: STAC exercise challenge

Today - BOSU Class - We had a substitute today and this guy didn't have a clue what to do - not only could he not stand on the ball, he had us dancing around like flipping Footloose - Was a really sad workout and a waste of my time....

Tomorrow - Going to the gym and running. Going to try for 1.75 mile. Upper Body work also.

      Re: STAC exercise challenge

I signed up for the gym. I can't believe Im doing this. I started walking on the treadmill at home, but decided getting away from phone, laundry etc.. would be better for me. I actually had fun and got inspired by all the women 50+ (like me) that are in such great shape. I'm just starting the bike and treadmill but Mon. I'm going for the weights!
Im so glad I didn't wait for the next official challenge!

        Re: STAC exercise challenge

Yesterday I ran a mile in the a.m., then we went to the gym in the afternoon and worked with a trainer for an hour and fifteen minutes, including another 30 min of cardio.

I have signed up for a personal trainer once a week. It's expensive, and I can't really afford it, but I will find a way to do it. The workouts are so amazing and I'm learning things I never knew - my entire body feels it!
        Start date: 7/29/2007

        Scale: SW:235 CW:193
        GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

        Mini goals:
        215 - met 9/10/07
        205 - met 10/17/07
        195 - met 2/20/08
        180

        I survived a two-month stall!

Evermind - Good for you for signing up with a trainer - They are expensive, but way worth it - You can learn so much to take with you in the future when you stop using them. I've thought about going back and using a trainer twice a month, to check in and keep me on track.

Healthy Mimi- Yippeeeeeeeee! Gyms are a great place to stay motivated. Even when I really don't want to go, I push myself, go and feel awesome when I'm done - Good for you!

Today I ran for 1.9 mile - that's the farthest I've ever gone - I'm super stoked and really proud of myself. Although I know I could've pushed it to 2 mile, I'll just be happy with what I did do
Tomorrow might be my day off from the gym. I would really like to go to the spa and have a body wrap done and relax - I'll have to see if they have any openings...

            Re: STAC exercise challenge

We went to the gym today, but our trainer couldn't make it due to the storm. So, we did about 1/2 hour of cardio, then cooked ourselves in the jaccuzzi and then the sauna.

I'm exhausted all of a sudden! I think we'll take a rest day tomorrow, and have an appt with the trainer again on Monday.

              Re: STAC exercise challenge

I haven't been to the gym since Friday, so a little bummed. Just was so stinking busy this weekend.

Hubby is out of town and son had 2 indoor soccer games. They usually go together - it's a guy thing.

But, I am starting "Couch to 5K" tomorrow, and I went to the gym 8 days straight, so not too worried. I have posted a total of 11 pounds lost!!

                Hi all.

Yesterday was a much-needed rest-day. Depending on the weather, I may go out for a run soon, and we have an appt at the gym today.

soccermom - I did Couch to 5k last August through October. Let me know if you need a coach, advisor, or cheerleader! It's AWESOME!!!!!!

                  Hellooooooooooooooooo!

Kicked my own bootie this morning! I ran for 2 miles - 2 MILES!! I want to cry, I've never been able to really run, so for me, this is HUGE! There's a 5K in March I want to run - I can totally do it!
After running, I was going to go to Yoga - on my way to the studio, I saw my pal in the spin studio and she saved me a bike, so I did Spin for an hour. My butt is on FIRE now! I feel really good and very strong now

                      Re: STAC exercise challenge

Just got back from a whopping workout of triceps and legs with our trainer. We still get one more free session on Wed. because they forgot to teach us the workouts for shoulders and chest. After that, we'll have him once a week and be on our own the other days.

I must say, it is a real experience having a personal trainer and if anyone can afford it even once a month, it's SOOOOO worth it. You get an amazing workout and instruction on what to do on your own. I really, REALLY feel the burn and it is very localized and targetted - much more than what we've been doing by ourselves.

No run today, but I hope to have one tomorrow, provided it's not raining.

Soccermom - how was your first run?

                        Re: STAC exercise challenge

Yesterday I walked 1/2 mile and ran - yes, ran, I know, I know, pick yourself up off the floor it isn't THAT shocking *you are so shocked* ....LOL

Today I am a little sore, but that's what happens when you have 207 pounds bouncing up and down!!! I have muscles that I had forgotten about and they started yelling at me today!

All in all, it was great. I am planning on running again tomorrow so I will have to let you know how that goes.

This is my schedule that I plan on following:

                        Week 1 - 1 mile
                        Day 1 - Walk 6 - run 6 - done 01-07-08
                        Day 2 - Walk 5 - run 7
                        Day 3 - walk 4 - run 8

                        Week 2 -1 mile
                        Day 1 - walk 3 - run 9
                        Day 2 - walk 2 - run 10
                        day 3 - walk 1 - run 11

                        Week 3 - 2 miles
                        Day 1 - walk 12 - run 12
                        Day 2 - walk 10 - run 14
                        Day 3 - walk 8 - run 16

                        Week 4 - 2 miles
                        Day 1 - walk 6 - run 18
                        Day 2 - walk 4 - run 20
                        Day 3 - walk 2 - run 24

                        Week 5 - 3 miles
                        Day 1 - walk 18 - run 18
                        Day 2 - walk 15 - run 21
                        Day 3 - walk 12 - run 24

                        Week 6 - 3 miles
                        Day 1 - walk 9 - run 27
                        Day 2 - walk 6 - run 30
                        Day 3 - walk 3 - run 36

Oh, at my gym, there is a suspended track and 11 1/2 times around is a mile, but i usually do 12 laps to make it easier.

In the Couch to 5K, it has you running in 9 weeks, but I scheduled 6 weeks so that I am able to repeat days and/or weeks as needed. I hope to complete this by March 3rd, which is wonderful. I am "training" by distance, not by minutes.

Well, got to pick up high schooler.....talk at you later!!

Just back from the gym. Our trainer put us through the wringer on chest and shoulders, then we did a half hour of cardio.

I feel drained and exhausted and GOOOOOOOOD!

Yesterday - BOOT CAMP class - super hard, intense, awesome hour long sweat-fest.

Today - Running - going to attempt to run for 35min. I know i can do it, I just need to push myself. I'll also try and get in some upper body resistance - maybe take a class (have to check the schedule)

Tomorrow is BOSU CLASS! this is my favorite -if the right person is teaching it and we don't have a sub - awesome core work and great all around class.

This afternoon I met HopeJoy and we went to a water aerobics class at our gym. I will write more about that in tomorrow's roll call.
