To make a long story short I took one bite of pie before Christmas and it led to a huge binge. I am not proud nor very strong. I started again this Monday, but will Atkins continue to work even if I cheated? I hope so, I was doing so well and I don't want to fail again.

Re: I cheated, will Atkins still work
mjlanham2, Its a way of life , not a diet.
Think of it as a long term change in your behavior.
Everyone has trouble around the holidays, the good news, the holidays are over.
Drink water, stick to under 20g in carbs, read the book, do you own the book and exercise.
Your appetite for non-induction list foods will decrease.
You can do it.
Dust yourself off, learn from everyone's mistakes, and keep going.
Atkins works!!!

Re: I cheated, will Atkins still work
The only way Atkins doesn't work is if you cheat and never come back. The key is to stay in ketosis and get back on if you get out.
We've all been there, done that. You can, too!

Re: I cheated, will Atkins still work
Thanks for all the support. I can't believe how one bite turned into 2 weeks of over eating. That is so not healthy. I have felt moody, can't sleep etc. I love this way of life, I just want to be able to not give into temptation. I really do think I am addicted to sweets. I have always said since I was little that I could do away with "normal" food and only eat sweets. I really do think I need to have my head checked, this is not normal. I can eat a whole pie and then have cookies and not even blink an eye. But I do thank you for motivation to move on.

Re: I cheated, will Atkins still work
mj--you sound like me when I was a kid! I used to think that I could live on only cookies and brownies and cakes and pies. It's not healthy, but I wouldn't say it's abnormal either--I think there are a *LOT* of people out there with the same addiction to sweets. I'm one of them! It's always something to be on guard for, but it DOES get easier, especially with clean Atkins eating.
Keep on going, make this a lifechange, a way of eating that is healthy, and not just a diet.

Re: I cheated, will Atkins still work
You wanna talk sugar? I thought there was something wrong with me too. I could eat a bunch of cake, cookies and candy bars and ice cream I would start out just taking a few bites and before I knew it half was already gone. Then I would say to myself "well it's almost gone anyway. Might as well finish it" I think this is the vicious cycle of bad carbs and sugar. It just makes you want more, you are never satisfied. I think it is a plot of the food industry.
Congrats on coming back to Atkins. I wish you all the best. You're on the right track now and I am glad to hear you are feeling better.
