    I can't believe that I'm back again almost at the same weight I started at before! Decided to get back into this way of living even against Drs orders, because it worked. Been trying to do it their way and it doesn't work for me, so I talked to the diabetes dr at my last check and she asked me how I could get my blood sugars under control better and I told her that the only way I've ever been able to get good control was when I was eating the Atkins way and I got tired of being griped at everytime I went to see her and the fam dr. I explained to her that my body cannot handle 45 grms of carbs per meal and 15-30 for a couple snacks a day (their recommendations). She told me that the medical field is having more of a change of viewpoints now compared to 3-4 yrs ago and though she would never recommend it to other patients, since it worked for me, she was relunctantly ok with it. LOL, just not gonna mention it to the family dr since she even went so far as to give me a folder with printouts about what was wrong with this way of eating...

    Anyway, sorry so long winded, but here I am ready to roll! LOL, DH isn't thrilled but is excited because I think I've figured out how to afford an exercise bike...we're both tired of this ancient manual treadmill!!! I'm thinking about a Schwinn, but having a hard time deciding between a recumbent or an airdyne. Any comments either way???

    Hmm, I had a reply but it's not appearing.

    Welcome back! HOpefully your doctor will see by you doing Atkins the correct way that it IS a good plan of eating. (I don't like to say diet) Fortunately, my doctor approves and will do anything to help me succeed. Anything that helps you keep the weight off and is healthy eating in his book is just fine

      Hi and welcome back. You will come across many people who will try to convince you that this way of eating is bad. You know the truth, so don't let their negativity sabotage your efforts. Best of luck on your journey.

        HI And Welcome back Julia.. Did you tell the doctor what you actually eat? I know when I do other diet plans I eat nothing BUT carbs Atkins makes me eat Veggies...

          Thanks all for the welcome! Yesterday was successful other than 1 diet mt dew I had to cave in to because ibuprofen and tylenol wouldn't get rid of my headache. I ate all my veggies at lunch (salad with chicken, lettuce, peppers-green, yellow & jalepeno,onion, cheese, celery and ranch) and I know not to do that anymore. Should have spread them out a bit! Got all my water in too! Blood sugar was great this morning (best its been in a while!)

          SandyL2002-yes the diabetes dr knows the basics, though she would have still preferred my eating more carb-y veggies and berries, but I want to do a full induction and do it right without any modifications, and depending on how it goes maybe even extend a few weeks. LOL, she would prefer 20-40 gms per meal, not per day!! Unfortunately, I know that when I eat starchy veggies it just feeds the sugar fiend in me and I can't do it! Strict and low carb is the way for me!

          DD has preschool this a.m. so I'm heading to the store to get more good food! I cleaned the fridge/cabinets and purged all the ucky stuff Weds night and have my grocery list ready! They have chicken breast for $1.99/lb so I'm stocking up! Ummm!
