  • Frustrated but determined

Ok - so today is my official weigh and measure day. I lost 1 pound. That's it. I am eating about half the food that I used to eat and I am exercising 3 times a week (which I never used to do) and all I lost was on lousy pound! I also measured and I lost a total of 2.75 inches. The greatest loss was 1.75 inches from my waist. I know that's good but I was hoping for a little more.

I am not going to let it discourage me but I can't lie. I really feel like moving on and adding more carbs will make me lose even slower than I already am. This is the issue that I had last time around. I was such a slow loser to begin with that I was terrified to make it even slower by adding more carbs.

Goal for the weekend. Look up specific recipes with exact carb counts and plan my weeks menu with those. Read the section of the book on induction again and see what I might have missed.

For the week - one more week of a clean induction. lots of water and keep up with the exercise. at the end of the week, see what happens.

    wish me luck.

    Re: Frustrated but determined

    Greetings,

First of all, congrats on your one pound and your inches.

If what you are trying to lose is minimum 20 lbs max 30, you won't be dropping big numbers, your body will fight you for every lb. therefore during induction you can probably expect to lose 2-3 lbs that is it and that is 10% of what you are trying to lose and you already lost 5? So you pretty much are on track. Induction is to detox your body mostly therefore, its very important to follow strictly. Afterwards, start walking up the rungs and find out what your max carb intake is.

I know it can be frustrating but you are doing the right thing hanging in there. It really may have nothing to do with the amount of carbs but instead may have to do with how much you have to lose and if your body may ihave more muscle than fat so it will make it even harder.

Are you getting enough fat in your plan, enough cals? Perhaps you should post a menu of a couple days and let people see what you are eating, there could be something you are continuously eating that you are "allergic" to.

Hang in there though, i feel your frustration!!

      Kislandmom --

I'm having the exact same problem. Hang in there, and I will too. You can see by my stats we are relatively close in weight/goals. It feels like my weight is coming off painfully slowly too.

Congratulations. You are losing!! You are learning a new healthier life-style and progressing. The less you have to lose, the slower it will come off. When my weight was above 280...I lost 3-4 pounds a month. After I got below 200, I was lucky to lose 2 pounds a month, but I was still losing weight and inches. Thats the big picture...to lose and learn. Keep going to goal, don't look back and let anything stop/prevent you from keeping on. Don't compare yourself to anyone else and their weight loss. We all have different life-styles, food choices, responsibilities. Beef up on your exercises, drink more water and stay positive. You'll make it. Its not a race, its a life-style change. Congratulations!!!

A pound is great, you didn't gain, you lost, you also lost inches. Enjoy that pound, you earned it.

I'm very glad to see you took your measurements!! For me my weight loss has been slow but the inches I've lost is huge...I know it doesn't make logical sense.

Don't give up...remember this is a way of eating/living not a diet! The ultimate goal is to be healthy. Are you sleeping better, do you have more energy, is your skin clearer??? There are many ways to measure your success!

                Re: Frustrated but determined

I'm right there with you, I either lose only 1lbs or stay the same. It is so irritaing but I guess its my own fault becauseI haven't really been working out. Anyway... I have the plan worked up now andim working out evry mornig and every evening 1hour each. I hope that urns aroundfor oyu but I am sure youll notice inches slipping away if you don't see pounds. That is one thing I can attest to is if its not pounds it will be inches.

                  Re: Frustrated but determined

Thank you all for the words of inspiration! You have no idea how much that helps. I guess when you see people posting that they are losing 12 or more pounds on induction, you start to feel a little left out. But, like everyone said, every body is different.

I am planning on picking out menus for the week and shopping accordingly. I am also thinking of giving fit day a try because believe it or not, I think I may not be eating enough calories and fat. My apetite is truly surpressed and I don't really eat to much now.

                  Thanks again for the thoughts.

                    Re: Frustrated but determined

I was in a stall from Halloween until just the other day. No inches, no pounds lost. Just...........stagnant.

You aren't in a stall, but it's going slower than you'd like. Understandable.

It was frustrating, and sometimes I let myself get discouraged. But nothing impeded my feeling that the foods I am eating are GOOD, that the foods I am eating give me energy and never let me feel that awful sugar/refined carbs high and then dump, and that I am doing well.

Make sure that you are exercising 4-5 days a week. Keep drinking your water. Try adding some fat. And most of all, be patient. Your body has its own way of doing this, and we have to let it do it.

                    195 - met 2/20/08
                    180

                    I survived a two-month stall!

Evermind - thank you so much for your words of inspiration. It's funny, I can be so weak when it comes to certain foods, but I am also a very stubborn person. Once I decide that I am going to do something, I stick with it. Coming here gives me the boost I need to stay determined.

So, I feel better than I did before, I don't fall asleep at 3:00 in the afternoon and my mood is better. What a great side effect of this WOE. I will focus on those and let the pounds fall where they may.
