  • No wonder I changed Doctors

My husband had his physical today and saw my old Doctor... who used to yell at me about my weight. My husband proudly told him that I've lost 45 lbs... and at first he was happy, but then when he heard I am doing it by Atkins, he said....'Oh, she'll gain it all back....' I think I hate that man. I swear, I am going to go there a year from now and show his old grumpy face how cute I am! old fart! just needed to rant.... thanks. I'm really mad at him!

          LOL! Asshat!! I love that...

I'd go see him again, that's for sure! But, I'd also get DH to change doctors... this one is clearly living in the stone age, and does not keep abreast of things.

          LOL... asshat!

gggrrr! my doc LOVES atkins. he also believes in homeopathic remedies when it is possible. he treated my high cholesterol with EXERCISE and supplements a few years back and it dropped from 220 to 160. find a good one and stick with it. i wonder if he is overweight>

LOL, I had that happen from both my endo and GP.....My GP called me back into the office when I was eating this way before and supplied me with a manilla envelope full of why low carb diets are BAD for you propaganda! Well almost 4 yrs later guess what? The endo has given me the go ahead to go back to this WOE and told me to just tell the GP that I'm following the eating plan that the endo gave me and that everything is going fine.....I hope I'm well into ONEderland by then and can laugh behind her back at her!

Re: No wonder I changed Doctors

people gain weight when they go off atkins because they most likely go back to eating the stuff that made them gain weight in the first place. if you truly change your eating habits, then you won't gain the weight. when i gained my weight back, it wasn't because i had lost it doing atkins. it was because i stopped doing atkins - and went right back to eating far too many bad carbs - sugar, processed flour, not to mention fast food, - and stopped exercising. if i had done it the right way, i wouldn't be where i am now.

I wonder how long you would have to keep the weight off before the doctor would change his tune? Does a year prove it works, two, five?

I might have to change docs too, mine wasn't happy to hear I was on Atkins. Glad you found one you like.

Re: No wonder I changed Doctors

Oooh i have a good doctor story. Ok so you know how 'they' say you should ask your doctor about wieght loss. I went to my doctor, said i need to lose weight. She said ok. I said can you help? Maybe refer me to a nutritionist or something. She said join weigh watchers. I said that's it? She said well what were you looking for. I said obviously a different doctor. I left. i need to find a doctor that is will to sit and talk with me for more than 30 seconds, one that is willing to look past the easy answers. I cannot tell you how many times i have had to deal with docs who want to get you in and medicated and out as quickly as possible. And do not even get me started about the whole thing where every girl needs to be on the pill to regulate her periods. Ok done with rant...for now.

I had the same thing. I've been losing weight, great says the doctor, I say I've been on Atkins, he says, have you tried weight watchers, and I'm like what the heck?

Is weight watchers paying the doctors?
