    Re: Here I go again...

Well this is day 5. I took today off from the gym. I needed the break in a bad kind of way. Still doing great with the re-started induction. I am finding that I am not missing the fattening junk that I had been eating. My kid baked some cookies tonight and wanted me to try one. "One cookie is not gonna hurt you, mom." Yeah... that is how it always starts...one of this ... a lil of that. Next thing I know everything is shot to ****. No more of that for me. Not now... not ever. I am gonna do this this time around. I will be a success story...

      Re: Here I go again...

Ok... I broke down and weighd myslf this morning. When I re-started on the 23rd I was at 230 pounds. (Ouch!) This morning I was at 224.5. I was pleased to see that. On the other hand... it is rather disgusting and annoying that I am where I am again. I am trying vvery hard to keep looking ahead at where I am going rather than looking back at how I screwed up. It really genuinely sucks being so close to goal and then finding yourself to be back where you initially started.

I smoked my last smoke this morning. As of 30 minutes ago, I am now a non smoker. Quitting smoking though is rather like losing weight for me. I do well for a while and then something happens to make me cave in. I really want to quit this time... for good. I am tired of coughing when I wake up in the morning and I am tired of smelling like an ashtray. I am done with all of that. I think that I will put the money that I usually spend on smokes away somewhere. Would be a nice little nest egg to treat myself with something when I reach my goal weight.

          Keep at it snap!

Just a suggestion, write your goals out and put them in your sig, somewhere you'll see them and be reminded of them every time you post here!

            Re: Here I go again...

Writing out goals is a great idea. The only thing is ... I am not sure what my ultimate goal weight is. I know I want to get down to 135, but, then I think ... gee it would be great to be a size 4 like Mitzi! I do want to be realistic about whatever ultimate goal that I do have. When I was here before I always avoided mini goals because I was afraid that I wouldn't make them and that I would get discouraged.

I have my big teaching interviews in April. I do want to look nice for those. I don't want to go into an interview looking fat and frumpy. I think appearance is something that we are judged by. That isn't necessarily fair, but that is how it is.

I have managed to be smoke-free for 6 and a half hours now. Gee... I already feel healthier! Here are my first mini goals. I'm not even thinking about how I will feel if I don't make them. I am thinking about how great I will feel when I do.... The challenge is on!

First mini goal 199 by 1 March 2008
Second mini goal 185 by 16 April 2008

                  Re: Here I go again...

                  Excellent snap!

I just posted a thread about setting goals, I'd recommend you check it out. Writing out my goals was so empowering for me, and it's the first time in 4 decades of life I've done it... I always thought "I just want to lose weight", without really defining it.

When I looked in the mirror this morning, I could SEE what I was going to look like at my goal weights, and it felt great.
