Slow buy steady, slow but steady. I know its healthy... I need to change my view of the word slow. As my lifetime goes, 6-8 more months is NOT that long. In less than a year, I hope to be at my goal. When shopping for winter clothes (my fav) I'll get to wear whatever I want.
Good Morning Everyone!
Yes I think it is important to remeber that slow and steady DOES win! This is not a race! This is a WOL. I know it took me YEARS to gain all this extra weight and I think it is great that I can use this WOE to help me lose the extra weight in merely months!
Today I am focusing on today! Not tomorrow or the next day. Just today! If I just think about today then I don't have to worry about tomorrow. SO today I will eat well with plenty of veggies, drink my water, and get my cardio in! So what about you??? What are you doing TODAY??
sigpic~Starr~ Mini Goals Clean 2 week Induction 220- 6/20/09 !! 210 - 199 - 185 - 175 - 165 - 155 - Final Goal 150!!! Starr's Story
After work yesterday, I came home to find dd in bed dozing (she gets out of school earlier than mine). I finally roused her at 4:30 by telling her that I was fading fast and that if we didn't go work out immediately, I probably wouldn't go. So, we went, and did a good workout, then sat in the jacuzzi until we became limp. I slept well.
Today is my longest day of the week. Teach from 7:30 to 2:30. Then I have a meeting with a professor at 4:30 up at the U, followed by a class that goes until 8:50. EEEEEEEK! Luckily, we won't be having class EVERY Thursday!
Interesting about thinking about how long it will take to get to goal. I've got another 57 lbs to go, myself. I have absolutely no idea how long it is going to take. I was hoping to be there or close to there by the time dd graduates from h.s. in the end of May, but I think I probably won't be. But I'll be looking better than I do now! I already look better than I did last August when I started. For me, the process is so interesting and enjoyable that I find myself focussing on the incremental losses - "wonder how long it will take me to get from 197 to 190?" for example - and not on the end. Possibly because I think I'll be doing this woe, with some editing, for the rest of my life. I dunno.
I WOULD like to be able to wear size 8 again, though!

TOM is finally gone and I can see the 170's in sight! It is very motivational to keep going. My busy work schedule has taken a bit of a drain on my cooking but I can catch up this weekend. It is so important to have the food ready to go.
Yep, slow and steady... that was definitely my mantra. I averaged a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds a week. That was an average, including Induction... which means, there were some weeks with no loss. BUT! That average of between 1 and 2 pounds a week surely does add up! Yes, indeed, it does!
This is for a lifetime... not a quick fix. Enjoy the process!
This morning I finally made a doctor's appointment for a physical. Should have done it long ago. They can't see me for a month. I've been soooo cold at work, my memory is bad, my weighloss is very slow and a bunch of other things that make me question how well my thyroid is working. Does anyone here have thyroid problems? Dr A mentions it in his book and it almost sounds like the diet could bring it on. I dunno. I'll let you all know when I find out more.
I haven't heard back from the belly dance instructor. Maybe I'll call her on my lunch hour.
It's almost Friday!!!!

morning all. On plan. I got some bad news at work. Basically they are gently showing me the door. Mostly because they do not want to have to pay for unemloyment and severance. So now i need to work on my resume and buy some interview clothes. The good news is i have lost weight so my interviews will be more successful. A sad but true fact of life is that being extremely overweight makes you a less likely candidate to receive a position all other things being equal. So now that i am close to being considered normal weight i feel that improves my chances. I am mostly disappointed that after almost 5 years this is how i am treated. Have a good day STACers and drink your water.

Susan, sorry to hear about your job situation, and the way it was done. There is probably something out there that you will enjoy even more, and the people will appreciate you! Just move forward, and know that you have alot to offer! It's a hard time, but can be a positive challenge. Change is good!
Have a great day everyone!

I am so sorry.. This economy is starting to worry me right now. We are really struggling and I am taking a job driving the school bus...where I at least know they HAVE to keep me....

sorry to hear that, you may want to check with your local labor board, in most states forcing you to quit by drasticly reducing hours or changing your job is considered the same as firing you in terms of unemployment.
Good luck!
And good morning STACkers. Feeling lazy and unmotivated this morning, but the Atkins flu seems to have passed(or maybe it was the caffeine withdrawal flu) so that's good.
I may just work from home today, I really don't feel like getting dressed
