  • Trying to fit in somewhere!

Hi I'm Char...I've only just signed up to the board this week, I went into the introduction and wrote up this huge post and it didn't make me feel any better.I had a few very helpful replies... but I'm still kinda lost.I don't have a huge amount to lose and I've been on Atkins for years 3 almost 4...but as it was pointed out I never really followed through up the ladder...I started out at about 165 got down to 138 but have gone back up to about 152 which I know isn't a huge thing but it is to me..I can't seem to eat enough and I Know I'm doing the whole starvation mode thing to myself.I don't eat past 20 carbs really ever and usually alot less.....I've read alot in the last week here everyone is so upbeat and getting the extra push and advice they need to keep them on track.which is awesome I've been picked on for years because of my doing atkins..This week I'm forcing myself to eat more, not induction because I've done that for to long... I'm eating the 3 meals plus a few healthy snacks of veggies..I walk all day at work and treadmill 2 miles 5 nights out of the week but I'm still having trouble getting the calories up..I went to fitday.com signed up wrote in everything I ate which was alot I thought and it came up to 1127 calories and 18 carbs..lol UGH!!!
    Tomorrows another day !

It sounds like you are on the right track. Pull out your book, re-read the sections on OWL and the rungs and start moving up. People tend to stall out because they stay on Induction too long. It's too restrictive and tends to be high in calories. Veggies are extremely necessary for your health and adding them in over the rungs reduces your calorie density and gives you much needed variety, nutrition and fiber. Don't be afraid of OWL!

You're doing the right thing by starting with fitday.

I'd recommend setting some food goals for yourself, write them out, understand them, and plan a menu accordingly. If you have a hard time eating much at any one time, plan out 5 smaller meals stretched out over the day.

Eat more veggies too! For being low carb that long, that's a really low amount of carbs, getting into OWL and a little farther up the ladder might be the right idea for you.

1200 calories a day is really very low, you don't want to be burning muscle and bone mass for fuel, try to get that closer to the 1700 calorie range, and do it by planning your menu, it will help so much!

Good luck, and we're here if you need us.

One other thing that might also help bump up those calories is just to add more fat! Sautee things in butter or oil, have some cheese or mayo, and enjoy the fat and skin of chicken and other meats!

Thank you all...I'm trying to do the menu thing planning out better..I plan a menu when I go shopping for the family...But ...thats them..lol..I really didn't start eating breakfast every morning until last week..I get up at 5:30 and I just don't want to cook anything then I'd just bring ham and cheese rolled up for lunch and some peanuts for a snack...I will get the book out again and check out the owl section..I was there along time ago but it slipped away...being 5'8..I can carry the weight but I hate it and it just has to go. I need to start over fresh and get those calories in.I just did my 2 miles on the treadmill so I feel good that I've stuck to that this is my 4th week I know it's only 2 miles but with work all day...coming home doing chores ,lunches, then dinner it's 7 oclock when I sit down...and I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

I need to look around an find a ticker and figure out how to add all the cool stuff you all have in your posts
Thanks for the encouragement It's so much appreciated!!!
