  • Can't believe the struggle I have had.

To keep my scales hidden till tomorrow. I put them away for the first time in months are friday weigh in. Although I had been good their was no loss, but no gain either,
I am trying to stop weighing myself morning and night.

I have missed them and worried that I have put on weight, but I am determined to try and only weigh myself once a week .

Perhaps in time i can cut back on once week and make it once a fornight. I know this woe works, So this time whatever the scales say. I am going to keep going.

I read some of the posts for encouragement, instead of the scales. Thanks guys for all the support.

Good for you for hiding the scale!

I am going to try that also - I weigh myself twice a day and really need to chill out.

You can do this, you ARE doing it! Keep it up!!!!

Re: Can't believe the struggle I have had.

I've done a full circle in regards to the scale!

When I first started, I dreaded getting on the scale--it scared the bejesus out of me. I hated weighing myself. Then all of the sudden, I became obsessed with what the scale said. I would weigh myself more than my usual once-a-week...then I was weighing every day, then I was weighing twice a day! YIKES!

Now I'm back to being relatively scale-free. I didn't weigh AT ALL during January (which was torture) and now I'm going to weigh every week or 2 weeks since I've just modified my Atkins plan.

You can do it! Ignoring the scale seems impossible at first, but soon you'll love the freedom from "numbers"!

Okay - I firmly believe that scales are evil and a great deterent to our success! (Just my opinion) I will obsess over the weighing myself if I didn't put them away. I try only to weigh myself every two weeks and even if I haven't lost "pound wise" I try to focus on my measurements and how my clothes are fitting. Keep up the good work!

Make sure you take measurements and Pictures to chart your progress as well, the scale is only a small piece of the story!

Re: Can't believe the struggle I have had.

We need to see progress so badly that we can move into an obsessiveness with the scale. The tape measure will show results too! Clothing that gets looser and looser speaks volumes!
It's really tough to stay focused on the numbers and not get frustrated. I made a choice very early on to stop looking and living by the numbers! I let my clothing tell me what is what!
keep in mind, our bodies have a way all their own to their natural weight...and most of us also don't know what that is, because we've been so far from what is natural for us! We THINK it is one thing, but then when weightloss stops, and we are at a good weight, it might not be the goal number we picked...and that number might be a shot in the dark number! I know mine was. It's crazy to give it such power!

Re: Can't believe the struggle I have had.

Thanks guys. I am glad to say I lost 2lbs this week. I am glad it was not another week of zero. I have made up my mind , that i will learn that the numbers are not as important as feeling good and dropping a size.
I suppose it just takes a bit of time. The scales are away for another week.
7lbs down and a loose pair of trousers. It's a good start.
