    Hi all. I was just wondering how many of you actually stick to the 3 cups of veg per day? I know that we are only allowed certain amounts of certain types of veg, is this because the 'other' veg such as cauliflower etc. are higher in carbs and are more likely to cause your blood sugar to rise?

    The reason I ask is that I am currently doing induction and have not been measuring my veg, but instead I just weigh the veg and try to get around 10-12g of carbs from legal vegetables each day.

    Is this really bad? How strict do we need to be with measuring? Isn't it more important that we get enough legal veg carbs and not worry about going over the allocated 3 cups?

    Any advice much appreciated

    That's all I do is carb count really, it winds up pretty close to 3 cups doing that way as well. If it's working for you, enjoy it.

      I eat more veggies now because I'm in OWL. But I have pretty much stopped measuring. I know how much 2 cups of lettuce is in a big baggie. I know the average measurement of a cucumber, a half of a small spaghetti squash, etc.

      The only thing I measure carefully is pumpkin.

        Good question! I found this time and last time that measuring was key in my loss. I was eating huge salads and got burnt out very quickly. Not to mention was going way over my carb limit and then feelign too full to eat at night. I cut back on my amounts during meals so that snacks could be included and began measuring even my salad. I was amazed at how much I was eating and thinking it was accurate.

        In OWL, Rung 1 is adding 5 more grams of veggie carbs. Once I moved on to rung 1, I used those 5 carbs and more often than not ate from the higher carb count induction veggies only because I was so tired of eating even 1 cup of salad a day. I was getting 25 carbs in total and the veggie choices had more variety.

        But like Evermind, after awhile you get a feel for how much is an accurate measurement. In the beginning I stuck to measuring just to be sure.
