Stay strong, Smallerizing! Maybe by avoiding looking directly at it you can avoid some of its mind control!

FatActress, I love the two cartoons you posted! I emailed them to my mom (who is on a diet, but not atkins) and she laughed and laughed! I laughed too but I was at work so I had to do so covertly!

How I started was stepping on a scale at the mall and seeing that I was 215 and freaking out and started Atkins and an exercise program. I never weighed myself, I just kept going one day, one week, one month, three months. How I gauged me losing weight was in my clothing size. In 3 months I went from a size 18 to a 14. And to this day I can't remember what I weighed at the end of the 3 months. Unfortunately I went off and on plan so many times in the past 8 years that I am now up 55lbs from where I had started before. TWO lessons well learned...1. THIS IS A LIFESTYLE CHANGE, not a diet and 2. DON'T LET THE SCALE RULE YOUR WORLD! lol!
Pay more attention to how your clothes are fitting you, how you don't almost die when you go up a flight of stairs, how your moods are better, how you have more energy. We can do this successfully without relying on the scale so much!!
The first time I did atkins I lost quite a lot but never stepped on a scale either! And then after about four months on plan and feeling great with loose clothes and everything I stepped on a scale at the doctors office and was SO upset at what it said. Even though I had been losing I didn't know how much I weighed and seeing it was so discouraging. That was the last day of atkins for me that time! Ridiculous because one second before I stepped on the scale nothing could have swayed me but one second after all I wanted was something carby. After that I stepped on a scale when I went to the doctor but that is it for about 7 years. When I started atkins again this time in January I bought a scale for the first time ever! I'm really cautious of it because I know what I can let it do to my morale! Good thread, FatActress!
