  • Roll Call Friday 2-29 GO STAC'rs!!!!!!

    Morning Yall!!!

It's leap day! I have no idea what that actually means, but it seems like something to celebrate!! I am pulling the 'West Coast after midnight Roll Call Start", seems to be a theme this week.

I have been trolling WAAAAY back in the recipe threads for something new to eat, as I seem to be stuck in a rut. The one thing that keeps jumping out at me that I want is PIZZA. Any opinions on the Biker Goddess Pizza versus Linda's Deep Dish version?

If I get to 144 next week, I will take it as a sign and reset my final goal for 139. If not, I will cut bait and be satisfied where I am! It is hard to remember back when I was wearing a size 18 and even had one dress in a size 20. I saved that dress this whole time, though, and I pulled it out tonight and tried it on. It practically fell off me, but it felt good to know how far I had come.

Do any of you hang onto one particular 'fat clothing' item and continually try it on as motivation?

Good morning, Partytrouble! And Happy leap day to you too! Is anyone planning on proposing to their man today? I don't have an item of fat clothing because I'm still wearing it! But I do have an item of skinny clothing to help keep me motivated! You are so close to goal, you should be so excited for yourself! And are you getting a new car?

Hope everyone has a good leap day!

partytrouble - I bet that was a great feeling having that dress fall off! I had bigger clothes, but I gave them all away as a sign of commitment and a promise to myself that I would never let myself fit into them again. However, like APanthesilia, I've got skinny clothes that I want to wear! Now if that darn scale would start moving again!

Oldest DS has school today so I'm going to sweep and mop the floors. Get the house all smelling good and the floors sparkly clean for tomorrow. We get DBF's daughter on Fridays and go up to his grandmother's on Saturday. Saturday the ex is also coming by with his new wife to visit with the boys. Doesn't look like I'm going to get much relaxation done this weekend. Have a legal friday everyone and enjoy your weekend!

        Good morning everyone.

A few weeks ago, dh made Linda's Deep Dish Pizza. I loved it, but dh, since he's the one who made it, felt like it took too much cheese.

I still have some fat clothes, but only because either I haven't given them away yet, or they still fit! Once winter is over, I will get rid of everything that's too big. I don't have any desire to save them. I do have a number of things that are too small. Some are many years old and some are brand new and bought in anticipation.

Happy Leap Day!! Tomorrow is March. March. It doesn't sound cold and gray like February. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and all this snow will have melt and there will be green grass, flowers and birds. There I go, dreaming again. No wait, we're going to Florida in March!! We're going to visit my parents. My mother is the one who gave me the Atkins book about 5 years ago, so I know she will try to serve legal food. Yea!

Morning everyone! Well I'm up... tried to do squats and my thighs are killing me, squats were NOT going to happen this morning. I have actual business to do today and then we are hosting a play-date/party today for my son with a bunch of homeschooling friends.

My body keeps wanting me to get up at 5am..... I might start listening to it if it keeps it up. I'm not sure I feel better for the extra 2 hours sleep I have been "stealing" or not - LOL.

Oh well off to start my day and figure out what I am doing.

            Morning everyone! Happy leap year!

I am in a fantastic mood today. I saw three people and all commented on how much weight I'd lost and asked how I've done it. YAY! After one and a half weeks!!!!

I had a lovely lunch today. I cut up some bacon in to small strips, fried them in a little butter and then added onion, a red chilli and lots of quartered mushrooms. When they were cooked, I added some boursin (full fat soft cheese with garlic and herbs) and it all melted in and it was delicious!! I didn't serve anything with it - it was so tasty in itself.

The crockpot is on with my pork chops. Will let you know how the turn out.

            Have a great day xx

Re: Roll Call Friday 2-29 GO STAC'rs!!!!!!

              Good morning! FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!
              So................ <sigh of bliss>

So yesterday was a good day. And I had a good night's sleep, and for the second morning in a row, I don't have to make lunches, because dh insists he'll do it until my stitches come out! I may milk this for all it's worth!!!!!

Seriously, I'm in no pain or discomfort, so as far as injuries go, this is just a cool opportunity to wear white gauze on my hand.

Yesterday I put on a skirt that couldn't zip up the last 2 inches last week. And it not only zipped up, but I could put a couple of fingers in the waistband and there was room. I was totally thrilled.

Which brings me to my little ongoing lecture about the scale. I'm not responding to the thread on this topic, because it's all about NOT weighing. I'm a weigher. Won't stop. It interests me.

The thing is, the scale is A measure of weight loss, but not the only one, nor the best one. It's just the easiest one, because you hop on and off and it gives you a number. And yet, it doesn't tell you a whole lot, now, does it.

I am losing very, very slowly on the scale. I mean, I was stalled for 2 months and it was a stall - no loss anywhere, inches or pounds. I'm not talking about that right now. But afterwards, I lost 9 lbs. And it took me almost 6 weeks. Used to be I would lose a pound a day for about nine days, then pause for 10 days or so, then lose again. Not right now. Now it's like a pound a week, maybe 1.5 a week if I'm lucky. A lot of times, less.

Last week, I hit 195. But here's the kicker: Ever since then, I've been UP. Once as high as 199. Mostly around 196.5 or 197.5. Yep, TOM came, but even before that, I was just retaining water. So the scale hasn't been very helpful.

BUT...................one week ago, I could not fit into two of my button-down shirts. They were too tight in the upper arm, and too tight in the chest. And at the waist, just a bit snug. On Wednesday, both of them fit. Perfectly, with room. And one week ago, I could not button my size 12 jeans. There were about 2 inches left to lose. And today, I can. And one week ago, I tried on a pair of stretchy size 10 jeans, just for kicks. They were too tight in the thigh to pull all the way up. Today.....I can pull them up and button them, but have a major muffin top, so I won't be wearing them soon. But the thighs fit perfectly.

Which means I've lost at least an inch or two everywhere in the last week - waist, thighs, upper arm, chest, hip.

So..........my point (and not the one on top of my head) is this: The scale is an interesting thing. Some people can use it without letting it govern their ideas of success on a daily basis. Some people cannot. Realistically, it can give one a general BIG PICTURE idea of how we are doing on a weight-loss program. But small picture, it tells us nothing. NOTHING. The ups and downs of 1-4 lbs on a daily basis are meaningless.

If we want to measure how we are doing in daily or weekly increments, measurement is best. Measurement in the form of trying on clothes, or using a tape measure. If we want to gage how we are doing over the course of months (example: On July 29, I weighed 235. Last week I weighed 195. I've lost 40 lbs in 6.5 months.) then the scale is useful (but so is the tape measure).

I could yammer on, but I think you get my point. (and often, when I say "you", I'm looking in a mirror. Remind me of this post if I start to whine sometime)

I love my body. I love my body. I love my body. Repeat.

              Scale: SW:235 CW:193
              GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

              Mini goals:
              215 - met 9/10/07
              205 - met 10/17/07
              195 - met 2/20/08
              180

              I survived a two-month stall!

Re: Roll Call Friday 2-29 GO STAC'rs!!!!!!

Good morning! Good for you, Evermind. I'm afraid that I am totally a slave to the scale. I'm getting better about being a bit more patient when it's not doing what I want, but it's tough. They have food here at work ALL THE TIME! Yesterday, it was cookies and ice cream for birthdays, every Friday it's Bojangles biscuits, Krispy Creme and the like (they do offer fruit, but I can't eat that either.) It's been about a week and a half now since I started induction back up and I've only lost 2 pounds, which is a big disappointment. So it was hard not to go get a little bit of cookie yesterday - but I didn't! It's funny how you always crave what you can't have. I wanted fattening burgers, cheese and such when I was on WW's, and now I want biscuits, bread and sweets. Grass is always greener.

I'm trying to stick with it. I hope that SOMETHING happens soon because I've been a good girl. I was hoping to get to 15 pounds by the time I go to Vegas, my first time ever going, April 12th. It's still a possibility. Then I'll just have 15 more to go to hit goal. No matter what diet I do, though, it seems to always work at first then just stop. I guess my body gets used to it. I'm not sure how to fix that. Exercise, I know, which I'm doing. Water. Veggies.

Seeing pictures of people like partytrouble's success helps, as does knowing I lost almost 20 pounds a year ago doing this - more than I have with anything else.

What is Biker Goddess Pizza? I've tried Linda's pizza which is really good, but not that one.

                  Morning all!

Kids up AGAIN at 5:15am - this has been like all week! Cut a mom some slack - OY!

Going to the gym in a bit - BOSU conditioning class. Last night I swam for an hour and relaxed in the jacuzi and steam room. Then after feeding the fam - I met a friend for coffee and had some good laughs

Taking kidlet #3 to the Dr's today. He's had some sort of chunky cough for 3 weeks. He's been living on Delsym. Don't like the idea of that, so it's time to go in....
Hope everyone has an awesome day!!!

Re: Roll Call Friday 2-29 GO STAC'rs!!!!!!

Good morning everyone...happy leap year - I have to explain it for you partytrouble!

A year in the Gregorian calendar having 366 days (this year), with the extra day, February 29 (which there is normally 28 days in February), added to compensate for the quarter-day difference between an ordinary year and the astronomical year. That's why only once every 4 years, we have a leap year.

And for those special kids born on a leap year, the 29th, their actual birthday, only comes around once every 4 years. Cool, huh!

Well - it's Friday, and I am way excited that the scale is still moving. I had a rough time not being naughty last night (buying stuff I shouldn't at the store)...but I made it - and it's paid off. Just gotta keep at it until those things no longer tempt me. And I know that day will come. I'm just still working on getting there, and it takes 1 good choice at a time to do it.

You know, I still have a theory, that we should lose 5 pounds, for every bad thing we turn down. Seriously! We get punished for every bad thing we eat...too bad the results weren't as QUICK when you turn down that same piece of food.

Well - I hope everyone has a great leap day & a fabulous weekend.

I actually get to say "good morning" and it be the in the am!!! Things around this zoo I call home are slow today.. for the moment. The kids all have science projects due today so in about an hour I'm gonna have a van full of 7 chatty kids with 7 science boards, lemon batteries, mold, magnets and who knows what else (hopefully nothing alive).

Happy leap day and TGIF!!!!! My aunt 's birthday was on leap day (she's no longer with us) it was cool bragging rights. We're thinking about trying out the Casino down the hill, bout 25 minutes away on Sat. We'll see how it compares to Vegas, my hopes are not too high though.

Oh ya and my 16 yo daughter takes her driving test this afternoon in my humongous van (poor girl) but her car in a stick and she hasn't really mastered it yet. Wish her luck, she's so nervous!

Day 11 of Induction for me -- still feeling very good. Going to one of those "Taste of...." events tonight. I'm crossing my fingers there will be at least a few legal dishes for tasting. If not, I'll drink water. And eat before I go, just in case...

                              Hi All!!!!

I had a great sleep but my poor bf didn't get in from work until 3 am. So it was a little disrupted but wonderful to see him! I have a MASSIVE headache this morning. Just numbing but that's not going to stop me! I had bacon and eggs this morning. I am going out for lunch and dinner but I am confident that I will stay on track. I am not in the mindset of eating anything that will stop my progress!!!

I haven't stepped on the scale in a bit and I don't really plan to until early next week. It's that TOM and I'm afraid it's going to show a big gain because I feel so bloated!!! So I am not sure when it'll be safe to step back on that scale! Lol!
