Probiotics seem to be a hot topic of conversation here where they weren't the last time I was on the board. Would someone plese enlighten me on what they are, why I'd want them, and how they fit in the Atkins lifestyle?
Thanks

probiotics are teh exact opposite of anti-biotics. they promote the growth of bacteria natural to our bodies.
Lactobacili help to fight of yeast, bufidum, & bulgaricus are the ones Dr Atkins reccomends we takes. The latter 2 help with proper digestion and colon function. No matter if its this WOE, any diet, or just in general probitics are a good idea especially if you have had a lot of anti-biotics in the last year.
you can get them in capsule, tablet and liquid . Most health stores carry them. The usually come in organisms per million. Mine is 1mil organisms per capsule. some are 13mil organisms per capsule. the higher the number the easier and better chance they have to make it down the pipe. They are however more widely foudn in capsule/pill form.
