  • Stalling! Help!

    Hi Guys!!!

Can anyone help me??? I'm stalling in my second week of induction! During my first 9 days on Induction I lost 10 pounds and now I've lost nothing in the second week. I have NO idea why I"m stalling!!!! I know I have to kick up the exercise.

I might have had too much pumpkin. Is that possible???

For breakfast I usually have 2 eggs with cheese and bacon.

Lunch I often have chicken or a meat with veggies

Dinner I usually have the same. Meat with veggies but I have made the pumpking pudding and Scooter's pumpkin cheesecake!

I do have lattes which aren't allowed but they sure did not stall me my first week and didn't stall me my first time around with Atkins.

I am also, as I mentioned in my journal, really struggling with choking. I have anxiety about eating right now because I fear that I am going to choke. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow and I am hoping he can refer me to someone who can help me with anxiety.

    Re: Stalling! Help!

Take a deep breath. Losing 10 pounds in a 9 days is most likely the reason you have not lost anything in the second week. It is not a stall until you have gone 4 to 6 weeks without pounds or inches lost. Usually you lose pounds and then your body catches up with inches lost. You lose a lot of water the first few days, so you can't expect to keep losing at that rate, nor is it healthy.

Yes, you can eat too much pumpkin! You are allowed 1 cup of pumpkin (raw) per day as long as you only have 2 cups of veggies from the salad list otherwise. Cheesecake is very calorie dense and probably put you over your cheese allowance and artificial sweetener allowance.

It could easily also be your body has REALIZED you are out to looooooose weight, and it's now gonna try and HOLD ON TO ALL OF IT! But you will patiently out last this momentary blip....watch what you eat, and just give it time, you will be loosing in no time...10lbs is great and usually in the first week or so you have your biggest weightloss, now things will slow down and sometime stall or trickle, just take that big breath Sunny was speaking of and let your body adjust to what is going on, you will loose weight, your body has already proved it will respond to the WOE!

Thanks Sunny, Sandy and Outback Jess!!!!

I think you're right! I've shocked my body and now it has to get used to it. I am going to hit the gym tonight to sort of remind my body that I want to keep going, not stop! Ha ha ha!!!

Any food suggestions that usually help to get you back on track that are induction friendly.

I am obsessed with cesar salads but cannot find a store bought dressing that's good for this WOL!

I use Ken's Steak House Caesar--1 gram carbs per 2 tablespoons-- or Neuman's Own and I love them both. I don't like the creamy kind, though.

Also, don't fret the scales...as they aren't as accurate as the tape measure. Keep doing the exercises, eating the WOE and measure at least every two weeks. The inches I've lost motivate me way more than what the scale says. You're doing great. Congratulations

                Re: Stalling! Help!

SURELY you're not under the impression that you will be registering a loss on the scale every week????????????????????? If you are, then snap out of it!

First of all, you're not stalled. A stall is four weeks or more with no inches or pounds lost. I was in a two MONTH stall where I lost nothing anywhere. THAT is a stall. I'm now in a 2-3 week period where the scale is only going UP or staying put, but I've lost inches - NOT a stall.

Secondly, most people have a huge difference between the two weeks of induction. Some lose a ton in the first week and little or nothing the second; others do the opposite. We have one goalie who lost NOTHING EITHER WEEK!

I'm being tough on you because I do not want you to get into the habit here of panicking every time the scale stops budging. If you do that, you will fail on this woe. We have to relax and trust our bodies. Eat the way we're supposed to, and keep on going even if we can't see anything happening on the scale.

This is a long, long-term thing. A lifetime thing. A week is just a blip.

Now go out there, get some exercise, and have a fatty snack!

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

                Mini goals:
                215 - met 9/10/07
                205 - met 10/17/07
                195 - met 2/20/08
                180

                I survived a two-month stall!

                  Thanks Evermind!!!

I guess I am just comparing it to when I did it before. I NEVER had even a stall for a few days! I was constantly losing! So it was just discouraging based on where I've been. I was working out agressively then and havne't been yet (just got running shoes last night)! So I hope that'll help! Plus my body is in ketosis but nothing's happening!

                  Thanks for your advice!

                    Re: Stalling! Help!

Yep.. you just need to step away from the scale! Just keep doing what you are doing and don't let the scale dictate your mood and discourage you. Take measurement and weigh once a week if you must. Personally... I haven't stepped on mine for a while. I could care less what it says. I am marking my success by how I feel and how my clothes are fitting. I have no magic number that I am trying to reach. I just ultimately want to be healthy and to be a size that I feel good about.

                      Re: Stalling! Help!

Think big picture or the micro managing of numbers will push that frustrate button and maybe you might quit...
I talked myself a few of those and finally realized "what was the big fat hurry?" I mean I KNEW THEN AS I DO NOW, I'm not changing anything once I loose the weight, or I'll gain it all right back....I had a funeral for foods I can no longer eat, period!
I stopped trying to ARRIVE and just began to make a lifestyle shift in my thinking....the journey, not the destination....
After all I was already DOING EVERY SINGLE THING I COULD TO HELP MYSELF LOOSE WEIGHT, what more could happen in a day???? NOTHING. Right then I stopped and smiled and decided to just enjoy the day....I got off the crazy-mind game playing-treadmill that day! I eventually arrived at a size 6, and recently have reintroduced many old favorites and now again have removed them from my life. I can't fit in the size 6 jeans presently. Thankfully I am in an 8 and see the LIGHT!

                        Hi

I have just finished induction and lost 9.5 pounds in the first week and then 2.5 in the second. I then stayed the same for a few days and lost a pound today. I think it definitely slows down after the first thing which I guess it has to as losing that amount of weight each week would not be healthy!

                        Have a read of this:

I think you're right on the first week being quicker than the second. I was just expecting some consistency, I guess!!!
