I have started induction again. I really struggle with the temptation of sweets. For me... when I have an emotional issue, I go straight toward self sabotage. I am working really hard to replace that negative behavior with a positive one. I am noticing when I do go back to sweets I always have a really hard day the following day, ie crying and feeling sad. It is amazing what putting trash into your body can do to your moods. When I go back to not eating it, the second day I am always mad at the world... Yikes! Once the sugar is out of my system I feel good again. Anyway... I've dusted my knees off and I'm back again.

Good for you getting back up & back on plan!! Recognizing that you go into self sabotage mode during an emotional time is huge. Now to come up with a plan so you don't reach for the sweets next time.
~go for a walk if possible
~get on ADBB for some support
~concentrate on a task
~just ride the wave until the urge passes
~meditate

Hey, I'm an emotional eater as well. It wasn't easy when I started this because eating was my coping tool. I had to find other emotional outlets (whoa to those around me).
Over time, the cravings go away and you learn to deal with your emotions (the right way). I'm not saying it's easy but it's so worth it to stick with it. You can do this.

Re: fell down, but I'm up again and giving this another try.
Good advice from both Oz and Cat! Which brings me to my point, ADBB, ADBB, ADBB! LOL! This board can help in soooo many ways. If you're upset or feel like you're gonna hit an emotional point where you wanna grab for the Oreos, come here. Read posts, sometimes I read posts or forums or threads I've never visited before and find new gems. Another thing I do when I feel stressed or pissed or down, I put on my ipod and rock out on my treadmill. Don't have a treadmill? Go outside for a walk to clear your head and get those feel good endorphins flowing. Too cold to go outside, dance around your bedroom with your favorite music pumping! I swear I HATED to exercise, now I love it, it really helps get me in a good mood! Good on you for dusting yourself off and getting back on the wagon! YOU CAN DO IT! =)

Re: fell down, but I'm up again and giving this another try.
It's time to start loving yourself more than those sweets. I used to eat a BAG a night of gummies, licorce , toffee, etc. EVERY night. The more the merrier. It has been almost 60 days since I have had any candy. I am also told that now that I have broken free of that addiction, if I were to taste a candy, that it would not be as good as I remember. I was an emotional eater and my husband cannot believe how I have changed. My new sweet is those orange and red sweet peppers. Wow are they good. You can do this too! Like any addiction, it will be tough in the beginning BUT in the end the winner is YOU !! Every single person on ADBB has had to struggle with giving up something that was absolutely delicious and absolutely bad for them. When you feel tempted, start reading some of the journals. You are not alone and you are worth it!!sigpic

Thank you everyone for the wonderful encouragement! Today my daughter brook had basketball tournaments all day... I did great!!! I didn't cheat at all. I ate a cheeseburger without the bread of course, later we went to subway and I had a salad while everyone else had bread galore! I made myself breakfast before we left.Taking My life back one day at a time...

Speaking of Subway (sorry to derail the topic for a second) I had a salad there a few weeks back and ordered the ranch with itOriginally posted by jlynlater we went to subway and I had a salad while everyone else had bread galore! I made myself breakfast before we left.
holy moly like 30+ carbs or something just for the 1 pk of dressing! I had to give the packet back and have the girl put oil and vinegar on it which wasn't that good
I'll have to remember to take my own dressing next time.
Keep up the good work!

Thank goodness I have ran into that problem before... I had my own ranch ;-P. It is kind of tough spending my entire weekend out of town watching games because the team always eats together. (we have 3 more weeks of travel basketball and then softball and baseball starts, Wheeeeeew!) I just have to make sure I am prepared and that I make good choices.Originally posted by earlychildhoodeducatorSpeaking of Subway (sorry to derail the topic for a second) I had a salad there a few weeks back and ordered the ranch with it

Your smart, I was excited to order a "legal" lunch and then it tasted yucky after I had to switch dressings... but now I knowOriginally posted by jlynThank goodness I have ran into that problem before... Re: fell down, but I'm up again and giving this another try.
Sorry you are having such problems staying on track. That's me. Or, I should say, that WAS me. It was up to me to decide that I will have to stop the sabotage, stop using all kinds of (really great) excuses to go and binge. I'm an all-or-nothing girl, once I had a carb accident, was on antibiotics or steroids, or was sick, I thought I had a "reason" to cheat. You described how it makes you feel afterward -- very true for a lot of us!!
Your posting here and being candid about your carb addiction is of course the first step. Your only other step you need to think about is the current day. I "think" I can't eat right for the rest of my life, I "know" I have to or I will have major health problems. Those philosopies don't live together well in my head, so I just have to take it a day at a time, a week at a time, sometimes when it's really hard just an hour at a time, maybe just try to make it until that scrumptious cake is gone!
Whatever it takes, Carb Addict told me as she is telling you, you are worth it! You WILL treat yourself to a better, healthier, lifestyle. And if you lose some weight along the journey, great! Jump in!!! BOTH feet!!

Re: fell down, but I'm up again and giving this another try.
Spend some time finding out why you're eating like you do, talk to yourself in the mirror. It was a trick I learned years ago in therapy to deal with anger issues, I just never used it with food until recently and it really opened my eyes. I came to realize I use food for so many things. Comfort, punishment, stress relief... the list went on and on. It helped me define and change my relationship with food. I use food to fuel the machine now. I still want to enjoy it, but I'm not eating now because I "had a bad day".Ron, 38 y/o Male 5'11"My WOE blog: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...2&page=1&pp=10
