  • overwhelmed with cravings

so this is just Day 3, but honestly the first 2 1/2 were going very well, not feeling deprived/no cravings. But geez, it hit me like a ton of bricks on my way home from work. Pizza, Brownies, Pasta. I want it!! I want to fast forward another week or two until these urges subside.

    Re: overwhelmed with cravings

This is the point where you get tested to the limit. I can remember wanting everything in sight - my family loves THAI takeout and I was in the early days of Induction. I was sulking and eating my "food" and they were chowing down in front of me.
You know this is just a phase and your cravings will subside or even vanish. I will admit that I still get cravings but I think they are more a habit than an actual craving. Stay the course! Be strong! And distract yourself with something else. Look at the process as a whole and know that you can do it!!

        Re: overwhelmed with cravings

You will be fine in a few days. Realise how powerful you are being by resisting. I have not really had any cravings this time which is amazing! I put it down to high fat and resisting sweetners, diet coke etc.

        Good luck xx

Keep your 'legal' snacks handy. Makes temptation easier to resist.
I occasionally treat myself to a seriously good cut of steak as a treat and let everyone else in the house drool!!

AMEN-GO-FER-THE-STEAK!!!...or shrimp, or lobster, caviar, short ribs, etc.

p.s. - if you just want a crunchy-munchy, fried pork skins (there's several varieties to choose from - I recommend the wash-pot/ hard type) work great!

                Re: overwhelmed with cravings

The immediate cure for those cravings is to eat something high in fat. Right away. I carry olives in my purse for just such an event, because they don't need to be chilled and can be stored in a baggie. But anything will do the trick: cheese, hot dog, heavy cream (I've been known to dart into Starbucks and order a child-sized cup with half-and half, heated, in the middle of shopping!), cream cheese, string cheese, cube of butter.

Most of us swear by it - we suddenly no longer have the craving.

                  Re: overwhelmed with cravings

Maybe this is not ideal, but what works for me is procrastination. I LOVE CARBS. There's no getting around it. So I'm just staying away from them for now. Hopefully my delayed gratification will turn into maybe a small piece of something after I reach what I REALLY want, which is 130 lbs.

You know you really don't want those brownies, at least not today. When you are about to fall off the wagon, just procrastinate. Then tomorrow do the same thing. You will be rewarded by a great figure, good health, and then you can decide whether to have a taste of carbage or not. YOU have all the power in your choices! Keep strong!

BTW, you already did something to replace eating carbage -- posting here! Works, huh?
