  • How have your induction menus changed THIS time?

Even though I did well with Atkins, I strayed away because I got bored with my menu. It was my own fault, getting into a food rut and eating all the same things.

Because I had (and still do) a lot to lose, I stayed on a very extended (5 months), very strict induction. I got tired of bacon, eggs, mayo, hamburger patties and pork rinds.

Atkins works for me, but I know I'll have to do things differently this time.

What have you all done differently this time? Is it working?

    Thanks!

    Aloha,
I'm just over one week on a restart of Atkins. I remember the rut you are talking about. Eventually I got into a different mode where food no longer was so central. I was eating to live, rather than living to eat. It is such a difference and I hope to get there.
This time, I am really focused on the dark green veggies. I love broccoli, greens, and such. I'm having great salads with healthy oils. I like fish.
It does help that my husband is a wonderful cook. he doesn't let me get too bored. he can grill meat in so many nice ways.

i am including more fish! learning to cook it in different ways, trying new varieties. small change, but including some seafood now and then is a nice change.. i have a tendency to over-do it on the chicken..so cheap and easy to throw in the oven. so i am working to broaden my scope of meats!

I buy stuff that I wouldn't normally buy, something that is a little bit of a splurge. Last night, I bought some salmon stuffed with feta cheese and spinach and pan fried it in a bit of grapeseed oil. I also don't cheat this time. I don't cheat on the food, I don't cheat on my exercise. When I feel this boredom coming on, I switch it up, food and exercise. Yesterday, I had an appointment so I also treated myself to a nice induction friendly lunch too in a nice restaurant. I decided that once a month, I was going to have sashimi and miso soup. Also, this time, I took two note cards and made a few lists. One one note card, in one column, I wrote all the induction salad veggies that I knew I liked then on the other column I wrote down veggies I would like to try. On the second notecard, I did the same for the "other" veggies. I have that on the fridge so now when I grocery shop, I buy more of a variety instead of cucumbers. I think treating myself is going to help me, getting the things like the salmon that I can prepare quickly and be a little spoiled. Trying better cuts of meat or meat already prepared (if it doesn't have any bad ingredients in it) is a good way to get a taste of something different and feel like you are indulging all the while you are being good/true to your WOE.
