    Re: Monday Morning Roll call

Good morning, everyone. I have again faltered, but I guess I only fail I give up completely, huh? Well, I'm focusing on staying on track today, determined to get back into an easy, peaceful, craving-free mindset... one day at a time. My big priority today is WATER. I've found that as I hop on and off the wagon, NOT drinking water contributes greatly to my delinquincy.

Here's to a great week -- one day at at time.

Oh, Evermind... I've had the same problem with appetite. Well, not no appetite, but with nothing (legal) sounding very good to me. Problem is, I'm handling it poorly -- by eating things that aren't legal. I know there are PLENTY of recipes out there, but it's the ingredients that hold little interest for me these days. Even cheese, an old favorite, just isn't very appealing lately. And chicken... ugh... I feel like I could go 20 years without chicken again (except lemon pepper wings -- I love those). So, I've identified a few things I really AM enjoying right now... big salads, aspargus, shrimp, steak, eggs, bell peppers... and trying to focus on those.

      Hey everyone!

So Easter was fantastic and I think instead of the easter bunny leaving me candy he left me a wooshie instead. This whole week my scale was hinting that I might be near 194 and then this morning I'm at 193! I knew I felt lighter

      Happy low carbing!

              Re: Monday Morning Roll call

I finally got over to fitday and measured my taco salad, and I'm eating WAY too much beef in my taco salads. How disappointing. I've got to find a way to narrow that down and do better.

I find it difficult to balance high fat and still keep my calories lower than my daily requirements.

Ah, well. Today is a new day, right? I've had three eggs fried in butter for breakfast, a chicken breast and brussels sprouts fried in olive oil for lunch, and haven't yet had dinner. We'll see if I can do better tonight.

Way to go, Spazzy!! Now that was way more gratifiying than the junk EB brought to others, wasn't it?

Congrats on your loss, Desertthorn! 12 weeks is awesome! I'm almost done with week 1, again. Sandy, just dust yourself off and keep going. I remember how it didn't look like progress until after 25 lbs, but you KNOW that it is!! When those Chik fil A cravings get to you, just have the meat and not the biscuit, it won't be as likeley to knock you out of ketosis and make you feel like _ _ _ _. Of course it's better to have some jerky or cheese handy but if you fall, try not to fall so hard! Won't hurt as bad....

                  Re: Monday Morning Roll call

                  Aloha all,
I'm so happy that I made it through Easter weekend with nary a temptation. I may be getting back into the groove of things.
I'm even starting to try to convince friends to join me. No takers so far. It is just me and my own conviction. In fact, yesterday friends were alarmed and raising threats of gout, cholesterol, heart problems, liver, no end.

The sad part is that I know that they are completely wrong, but that the whole pop health culture sides with them. A society led so astray.

I'm coming to realize that, at least for me, a big part of this WOE is having faith. Believing that it is the right way to eat and not wavering in that conviction. It certainly goes against the grain of what everyone tries to tell us is healthy. I've read a lot to intellectual understand, especially my first time around. And I saw it work so effectively on me. A key to success for me has been an absolute belief in the truth of this WOE.

Has anyone else read 'Good Calorie, Bad Calorie'? It is a dense book but I read it word for word and am going back for reading #2. A scientific journalist deconstructs all of the obesity research that has been done and shows how many flaws there are in the science of the present status quo. It is really fascinating. Something that struck me is the range of research that has been conducted on pre-colonial contact societies and modern societies. Obesity is associated with modernity so strongly, and flour and sugar seem the main culprit.

When I think about how serious obesity problems are in the modern world, and how shabby has been the research, it really seems criminal. I know the research world well from my profession and the big egos involved in it. It is so convenient to 'blame the victims' of obesity and say it is their fault because they do not exercise and do not eat right. But I believe the truth is something that is really not understood.

Atkins has hit on it in part because he based his work on clinical experiences, and in part because he turned to very old knowledge about weight gain.

Sorry to ramble on this way! I could go on and on. And here I am, just at the 10 day mark on induction this second day around. A mere newby once more.

                  Conviction, have faith.

I am trying to get it at the library cause my husband has me on cookbook and diet book restriction and while I guess I could argue that point.....I'm on the waiting list.

I agree, I think that if Dr A had lived, we would be getting some new guidence from him on lots of stuff. That is why these board are so important, we just have to keep eachother informed of whats new and true
