  • i want to cry

i know i have been talking about this a lot in the last week but i just feel so sad and down in the dumps.

today is the start of my 4th week. i weigh MORE now than when i started. my measurements have not gone down. my pants are still tight.

i feel like my body is not and will not comply. like this WOL can't "work" anymore. is there any truth to this? are there people who just don't thrive on this? i LIKE the way i feel, i like the foods, etc. but honestly, i need to lose weight. i want to see results. and i'm not trying to be vain or silly like i expect miracles in a short amount of time..but i remember a month ago when i started thinking just wait til the next few weeks and months. it will be a different you. and i look in the mirror and i am so sad and it makes me feel so awful. this is such an emotional journey and i thought at least i would be seeing things improve by now.

no need to be sad, happy times are ahead. re-evaluate what youre eating. maybe too much cheese, maybe too much fake sugar, maybe stuff with fillers?

Definitely post menus. Are you using fitday? You may wish to consider logging every single thing that goes in your mouth. You do not have a lot to lose so you may find yourself losing very very slowly. Keep your chin up and we will try to help.

yes, i use fitday..not religiously..which will probably have to change. somedays i start and then do not finish etc.

i am going to try and stop using splenda at all for the next week or two. see if that changes anything. which i love making mock danish. buut..that's done for now. i am going to try and keep cheese to a bare minimum..maybe just a slice on my eggs in the morning.

i just am about to have a meltdown..which i'm sure is not helping the situation. it's like i am going into panic mode.

          Re: i want to cry

I'm sorry you're sad Mrs_S . This will pass. Hang in there . If your goal is to lose 12 pounds and you've lost 1 pound then that's 8.33% of your goal. Also, since you're so close to your goal weight it may be more similar to Pre-Maintenance where it can take months to take off that last bit.

There are so many questions to be asked.

          - What level of the program are you on? Induction or OWL?
          - Are you keeping a food journal? If yes, what is your daily carb intake? If not, it would benefit you to try it out.
          - Are you eating enough?
          - How much water are you drinking?
          - Are you exercising?
          - Are you on medication? You don't have to share that, but as Dr. Atkin's points out that can have an effect.
          - Review the list of acceptable foods. Are you eating outside of that?

I would strongly suggest logging everything (food, water, exercise, etc.) in Journal Stats or Journal Chats. You or others may be able to see some underlying reasons.

          Stay strong!

            Re: i want to cry

i've been staying on induction. i have thought about moving up..but how can i possibly move up when induction isn't even under control?

i am drinking water like it is nobody's business. that is one thing i have always been pretty good about...whether or not in the past my food choices were great..i've always been a water junkie!

i am on BC, which sometimes i reaaaaaally don't want to be on it. i'm not blaming it for my weight gains, but i do feel like it is affecting my body and not necessarily in the way i want it to. of course, i'm not in the mood to risk a pregnancy at the moment.

my excerise consists of mostly walking. i live in chicago, no car, so i'm doing a lot of walking. okay and please don't laugh..but i play the wii a few times a week and if anyone has ever boxed you would know that you will start sweating after a few rounds. i'm embarrassed that i just wrote that lol but i swear you burn some calories. i'm thinking i am going to need to increase the walking to a more intense sort of thing.

              Re: i want to cry

I totally understand where you are right now.. I've been there too! Heck, I'm still there!
It's been almost 2 months since I've hit my stall. I don't have much to lose either, so I am attributing my stall to my body just staying comfy where it's at. I WILL get there, but not as fast as I would like. It seriously SUCKS - big time and I've had total meltdowns over it. You work your hiney off and expect to see the scale reflect that and it doesn't - big suckage...
Post your menu for the day - let us have at it and see if there is something that we see that you possibly don't.
Perk up - you're doing great - sticking with things even when you might question why... Your determination is awesome - keep it up!!

                2 eggs
                2 tblspoons cream cheese
2 packets of splenda (those individual little coffee packet ones)
                1 tspoon cinnamon
                1/2 avocado
                1 orange bell pepper
2 medium chicken breasts (coated with egg and butter) then dipped in 1/2 cup grated parm cheese
1 cup broccoli (cooked with a tablespoon of butter)
                4 pieces (spears?) of asparagus
                1 tablespoon of crushed garlic

                  Re: i want to cry

Hang in there. The food doesn't look like the problem (the "I think" ) is the stickler. I sometimes forget things here and there if I don't chart. You have so little to lose that it may take a long time.

For me, shaking up the exercise sometimes helps. Putting in a couple of good half hour boxing workouts on the wii might be just what you need. My son has one so I know you can get a workout with it! LOL Also weight training can take the inches off even if the pounds don't change. If you havent done it, give it a try. It is my favorite exercise because I can really see the difference after a couple of weeks. Jill

I'm with you too!! I admire your determination and sympathize with your challenge.

I'm getting a bit discouraged myself, but I need to give this more time before I really give up.

                          Re: i want to cry

Hey Mrs_S I know exactly how you feel. Just recently been in the same situation. Just keep on following Atkins. Do some extra exercise and most important take the nutritional supplements - a multivitamin, a multimineral and perhaps L-Carnitine. Limiting or cutting out sweeter might help too - it does for me.

Also I quitted coffee last Friday and since one week I am also watching my calory intake. I read, the key of losing weight is to take your basal calory intake minus 400 - 500 calories, but never go under 1000 calories a day. So let's say, mine is 1793 minus 400 - 500 = I should stay in a range of 1293 - 1393 calories a day. Of course Fat / Protein / Netcarbs still need to be monitored as well and need to be in the right percentage.

Since I'm following this, my scale has been moving and I notice the change of my body.

Just stay focused on your goal. You will feel amazing, you will boost your selfasteem and feel so proud of yourself if you continue... I know I do.

I would try increasing fat. I am no expert but it doesn't look like you are adding much to foods. Worth a try? x
