  • Roll Call - Wednesday 9 April

    Morning all!

I have a renewed entusiasm this morning! As you may know, I stalled for 20 days and was pretty fed up as stayed cheat free on holiday. I got some really good advice from Valid Rouge yesterday and went back to rung 1 and.... the scale flickered today to half a pound down! It is not official but yesterday it was showing a pound up so this is good news! I am going to stay on rung 1 now for weeks (months maybe?) to find my CCLL. It was nice to have 2 tomatoes and extra salad veg. I did miss my berries but not as much as I missed losing weight!!!

    Have a great day

Well yesterday I was bad...really bad.. Today I MUST be good... I did major cleaning in my bedroom.. found a pair of pants that still had tags on them... Tried them on..they were HUGE.. my husband was laughing.. he said I guess you can't wear those anymore.. I said NOPE.. That is what I USE to wear...I don't want to go back...

Still waiting on Tom.... Kids have dentist appointments today...then Chiro.. and then home..to do some more cleaning

      Good morning Stacers!

Got caught yesterday with no decent snack stashed in my purse & I was wicked hungry. Bought a bag of peanuts & ate those...the best choice available out of a vending machine. Valuable lesson...don't leave the house without a few cheese sticks in my purse!

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Off to work & then pick up my DGS. I think we will go for a walk this afternoon & knowing him tossing the football around!

Morning - busy day here at the farm! I'll be exhausted when it's all said and done I'm sure. The person is coming to shear sheep, we are moving the goats and the sheep, PLUS we are getting 8 steers today!! A LOT of work!! Then we have the kids 4-H meeting tonight........

Scale didn't move.... don't expect it to until after TOM leaves. Gotta tell you all though (this will be tmi for some guys)... I found these "Diva Cups" that you use instead of any tampon.... and my life is a LOT easier during TOM especially since it is always heavy. No changing anything for 10-12 HOURS!! Woo Hoo!!! Ok - that's enough personal stuff.... gotta move on

Need to find a good home work-out DVD...... Don't have the money for the P90X system I saw someone doing.... but was thinking of a Turbo Jam DVD.... in a previous life I was thinking of training to become an instructor..... not sure. Heck may just take up boxing on the Wii system (yes whoever said it yesterday - it makes you drip with sweat if you do it right!) Gotta sell my treadmill since it really bugs my knees even with walking.

        Time to go feed everyone!

Re: Roll Call - Wednesday 9 April

Tough, up and down day. A co-worker told me that it looked like I was making a lot of progress on my weight, and slimming down. He's a guy, and we fellows don't generally extend compliments like that, so that was great. I got home after working out, and the scale is up five pounds. I can't imagine that all that could be the twelve hours of cheating I had this weekend, so I'm going to chalk it up to water weight and press on. Really, really frustrating though.

Those of you who are looking for exercises to do at home might want to check out the old Tae-Bo series. You can find some of them on eBay for low prices, or in the bargain bins at WalMart, Target, et al, if you're lucky. Good sweat and very quick to do.

If you're looking for ways to tone up, I might recommend Matt Fury's "Combat Conditioning." It's filled with bodyweight exercises that will just knock you silly. You can start at your own pace and work your way up. It's a fabulous book, with good online support. In fact, if you go to YouTube, you can see some folks doing some of the exercises. You'll want to look for "Hindu pushups," "Hindu squats" and "back bridges." (I can't yet do a full back bridge, so I use a stability ball.

There's also a good book of isometric exercises called "The Miracle Seven" by John Peterson. It's purely isometric, so it entails tightening muscle groups in order, and it really works. I was amazed at how well it tightened me up and caused some growth. It's a rendition of the old Charles Atlas system, in fact.

So, if you're a string bean who's tired of getting sand kicked in your face....

                    Morning everyone!

I am having the hardest time getting back on track! I'll make it through the work day just fine without going to the vending machine or a fast food place for lunch but then once I get home it's like my motivation to keep going just goes away and I eat a bunch of junk so it throws my whole day off.

I was proud of myself yesterday becaues I almost went to the store and bought ice cream cause I was craving it sooo bad but then thought about how horrible I would feel after I ate it like I always do. BUT then I just ate a frozen spagetti meal so it didnt really work the way I wanted it to.

I guess I need to think about how I'll feel afterwards for everything I eat and maybe that will help. I really need to get back on track before I start gaining more.

Re: Roll Call - Wednesday 9 April

                        Morning, all!

I've been getting up really early to work on my thesis for the last few days and have forgotten to check in! My bad.

Things are going not so great. I've been feeling really paralyzed about the thesis thing and it's been so bad that dh, bless his heart, took two days off (yesterday and today) to help me - he's a great motivator and coach and cheer leader and editor, all rolled into one wonderful package. I've gotten more done with him, which is good.

I've been eating crappily. Not carbily, but not great. Minimal, and not enough veggies. I bought a whole thing of lettuce on Sunday for salads and it turns out to the be so bitter I can't eat it! Blech!

I also haven't made it to the gym since I got back from NYC. Just putting it off - part of my general "lassitude".

On the other hand, I got back into running so I've been doing 1-2 miles a day, to start myself out in a training program on our bike path. I usually run around 10 a.m. after writing for several hours, and that's good for me.

Tomorrow we start back at school and I have about 6 IEP meetings in the next 2 weeks, which is a PACKED schedule in addition to teaching and taking 17 units of classes. I do feel rested, but the next 2-3 weeks are going to be just a real slog. Thanks in advance for letting me moan and cry periodically! I promise I'll be my cheerful self once everything is over.

Chelsey - been there, babe. I suggest that you either pack a really yummy and highly-fatty snack to eat on the way home, or have one in the fridge waiting for you. Make popping it into your mouth the FIRST THING you do after you drop your keys and purse on the counter. Just start eating. I can promise you that cravings for crap will go out the window. It'll keep you sane for the rest of the day, especially if you make sure you have some stuff with more fat a couple of hours later. I keep devilled eggs and herbed cream cheese with celery and stuff like that for just such a purpose. It does work.

                        Have a good day all.

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

                        Mini goals:

                        180

                        I survived a two-month stall!

                            Aloha Evermind,

Hang in there with the thesis. I've been there and have watched many people through it. It is not easy.

Some advice. Eliminate everything extraneous from your life for a period of time. Recognize that this is temporary. Say no to everything extra. You need the down time and unstructured time to make progress.
Running is really great because you can work out problems when you run that you would not work out if you were sitting in front of the computer. You need to be so deep in your thesis, but you also need those things like taking a run or washing dishes, where your mind can wonder and relax. I guarantee that the insights will hit you like a lightbulb when you least expect it.
Those around you will not get it... but don't worry about that. You can come back to yourself after you've completed the thesis. Give yourself a break and take the load off in other areas of your life. IT WILL END, and faster if you focus now.
                            Here is cheering for you!!

Aloha, I'm nearly at the one-month mark. writing and checking in really helps keep me focused.
I'll admit to a failure this weekend. I was at a resort for a summit and they were serving the most awesome food. I was extremely good until we had a sunset on the beach cocktails and dinner by one of the BEST chefs in Honolulu. Music from one of the most famous groups, and beautiful hula. It was enchanting. I did well with the filet and the veggies, avoiding the carbs. Then they slipped this amazing chocolate dessert in front of me. Before I knew it, I was sampling!! Ouch! It was just a force beyond me, I didn't even think!
I did catch myself and push it away. I've been purging ever since.
Warning to self -- watch out for those enchanting sunsets and swaying songs. Hulamom must have more discipline!

Water water water. I'm back in ketosis now, and hope that I can last firm.
