  • My progress and a few of Questions

    Hi everyone,

Just checking in. Its been 9 days on Induction and 9lbs lost. Ive done fairly well considering it was TOM in middle part of Induction. No crazy side effects with any signs of Induction flu like the first time when I attempted this WOL.

Felt great so far from the begining. A few problems that I need to work on though. My biggest problem is h2o. I love it. I believe in it. And I know the more I drink the better off I am. Its just this problem I am having. I am a server in a restaraunt at a Casino. If I drink water during the day I pee all night at work. I have tried cutting back on drinking so much before work but still I pee all night...lol

so now I have got into the habit of when I get off work at 11 pm I try to consume as much water as possible before bed. Now that leads me to lots of bathroom sleep breaks...Aghhh!!! Dont know what is worse. lol

Second thing I need to work on is Cheese. And Salads. for the last 2 days I have cut back on my cheese intake. DONE!

I think I am eating way to much Salad. Is this possible on Induction. I usually have either 1 very large Salad and a veggie throughout the day and sometimes when I am hungry I slice a cucumber with either cream chz or tuna. Or I will have 2 Large salads(subway salad size)

Is it possible to have to much salad. All ingredients are Induction friendly foods. I use a little Mayo for dressing.

Question about bacon. What kind of bacon is the best?
I started reading ingredients in bacon and the 2 so far that I have purchased says cured with Brown Sugar. The carb count is zero but the ingredient of Sugar makes me ask this question. Is all bacon that way?

Question about coffee. Coffee doesnt trigger my appetitie. I do well I feel on it. I use equal and it doesnt trigger cravings for me. As long as I can handle it and it doesnt effect me do I really need to cut it out?

I usually go through and read all of the stores and look at everyones before and afters and that gives me the motivation to continue. Thanks to everyone here. You guys r Great!

These goals maybe pushing it but I am gonna give it my all.

    Hi Kram

Well done on your weight loss! Good for you!

You need to carefully measure all salad and veg and count the carbs. It's amazing how much it can add up.

Bacon. You need to find the bacon without sugar. If you check in the store, you should be able to find some.

Coffee. Ideally, people say you should give it up as it can cause insulin spikes. If it doesn't cause cravings and you are losing then you may be OK. I also still have a couple of cups a day (usually de-caff).

Keep up the good work xx

Just be careful. Equal has aspartame. Aspartame is a known staller. Maybe switch to Splenda or Stevia as a sweetner? And, better yet, how about switching to no sweetner???

Re: My progress and a few of Questions

One thing you will have to figure out is how your body responds to all of the ingredients that are of concern. I switched to splenda. I drink coffee still and lost all my weight. I eat a bacon that is by hormel, and it has a 0 carb count, but I never looked at sugars there. My body responds ok with these. You have to find what your body will do. After the inital beginning your weight loss will potentially slow down, and that's normal. Your body is adjusting to all the changes and it might go into a "holding" mode. everybody tends to panic there, me included.
The BIG TRICK is shifting your mentality from diet and short term results to creating a lifestyle, a way of eating and living that can be sustained. Every food you are patient with and test out and eventually rule out of keep in your life is a lesson learned for your perm. program...
If everything is "short term, get this weight off now" you will have a very difficult time keeping it off. Developing a knowledge and skill set for eating and living that will help you long term is the only thing that will keep the weight off....It's really the harder part of the whole program.

I couldn't have said it better than Outback Jess. Then again, I doubt there's anything I can say better than her =) The diet itself is not that hard, and admittedly, after you've made the decision to stop eating the wrong things and start eating the right things, the actual diet is pretty easy too - it doesn't ask a whole lot from you.

It's making the "diet" become a lifestyle change that is the real kicker.
