  • Deja Vu All Over Again!

Ok so I am trying to start this again. I own a pizza shop so there is constant temptation all day and all night long. I tried this diet awhile ago but didn't get very far. Just to let you all know, I lost weight a couple of years back on this diet (went from 240 to 170 or thereabouts) so I know I can do it. I am so disappointed in myself...so disappointed that I let myself gain most of my weight back and also for the false starts that I've went through. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't dwell on the past and try to get this going again.

I will update my weight loss ticker tomorrow morning...

Hey Jim, welcome. You know it's not like this is some walk in the park, it's hard work, total focus and creative thinking, problem solving, and eating right, all the time. To do this all with a pizza shop must be quite the challenge!

Welcome Jim.. I know there are some recipes out there for pizza low carb.. Maybe you could experiment with the recipes and be the first restaurant to offer it.. I know I would be THRILLED to go to a restaurant that had a pizza I could eat...

Thanks to everyone for the welcome! I think the fact that I actually got myself out of bed and made my breakfast and packed my lunch is a good first step. I'm going to do a clean induction. Ok so now I am off to my shop, this is going to be a HUGE challenge.

Welcome back! I remember you from before. That would be a real challenge to smell pizza all day long, but life wouldn't be nearly as interesting without some challenges. I make a pretty decent low carb pizza, but still can't eat it very often and I eat too much when I do make one.

Re: Deja Vu All Over Again!

Hello Sunny and IrishMom! I sometimes find myself wishing that our food wasn't so darn good. That way, I wouldn't want to eat it. Something tells me though that even if our pizza tasted like cardboard, I'd still shovel it down. haha Honestly though, I am sick and tired of pizzas and cheesesteaks. However, my pizza guy will come up with a new recipe for a new kind of pizza and he will make it and ask me to try it to see if I like it and then we can put it on our new menu. I need to just say no, even though I am dying to try it. I'll get the other people that work for me to try it out and let me know what they think. Btw, today was my first day on the diet again. I was supposed to start yesterday but I gave in and had a beer. Today, no cheating at all and it felt good not eating junk. Honestly, I think that between all the water that I am drinking and the relatively bland food I am eating, it is preventing me from eating too much or other junk for that matter. I tried doing semi-low carb before and I would always cheat soon thereafter because the wheat bread that I had would make me hungry for other carbs and then it would just be downhill from there...

Re: Deja Vu All Over Again!

Hi! From one southeastern Pennsylvanian to another, your food doesn't have to be bland. If you want to make it a Way Of Life, here's a link to some awesome recipes!

                      http://genaw.com/lowcarb/

I love Philly Cheese Steaks and order mine without the roll. They are still fantastic, and I've come to believe that the bread just gets in the way of the taste. Cheese steaks (sans roll) with 2 slices of cheese (2 oz) and one medium slice onion fried, are only 3 carbs. Put that on a bed of lettuce with a slice of tomato and your talking 5 carbs. Top it with mayo and your in heaven and well within Induction levels.

Another quick snack you could make at work would be to put 16 pieces of pepperoni on a plate (or pizza pan) arranged so they form a disk (sides touching form a circle), and then put 2 oz. of mozzerella cheese on top and melt (I microwave mine for 2 min) in your pizza oven until the cheese is bubbly. 2 Carbs!

I sure wish you the best!

Re: Deja Vu All Over Again!

When I eat pizza, of course it is just the topping, with a lettuce salad and I often wonder why doesn't a pizza place create a topping pizza? one with no crust. I often think about making a very thin "hamburger" crust and then putting the good pizza stuff on the top.............I know there is a recipe for pizza chicken that is delicious, you flatten a chicken breast, put some pepperoni and other toppings on it, cook it up and it is very enjoyable.

Good luck to you, I am sure it is hard smelling all the good smells that a pizza place has and then denying yourself..............but the good feeling you get from not eating it is so worth it...............keep on keeping on!!

Thanks to everyone for the ideas! I'm also thinking about making a Hoagie without the bun of course but with everything else. No sweet peppers...no pickles...I will use: Ham, Capicola, salami, Provolone, Peppered Ham, lettuce, a little bit of tomatoe, pepper, oregano, and olive oil...mmm...sounds good!
