  • Advice please

    Hello everyone i need some help figuring out what Dr. Atkins meant by "add another helping of vegetables" on page 140....

    I think I fall into the category of not getting that burst of energy and just feeling crummy... I really relate with what it said in the book about feeling weak walking up stairs....Dr.Atkins said it could be because the weight loss is too fast, losing water and certain minerals to fast, and the body not being able to keep pace with the quick changes...

    I tried to give it a day or two to pass but its not going away and this time i vowed not to cheat and i have kids to take care of and its hard when u can hardly lift them up to change their diapers.

    so I just need to figure out how much another helpng of veggies would be....is it a cup or less? he does mention adding the veggies or 1 or 2 ounces of nuts or seeds....does that mean 1 or 2ozs of veggies???

    My take would be add another cup of veggies to one of your meals to see if this helps. Also, it states "obviously, drinking lots of water is essential.

    Add your veggies in and see how it works - let us know how you are feeling!!

      I don't know if this is true, but I've read that while you should drink lots of water, you shouldn't drink a lot of it at mealtime - that it dilutes how effectively your body absorbs nutrients.

      I had a similar problem. I added a few things - an ounce of nuts some days, a few berries other days, a little yogurt, coconut milk. I keep my carbs between 20-30 and I feel much, much better.

        Aloha,
        You might also review your supplements. It is easy to ignore but so important. Read Dr. A's recommendations. A daily multi vitamin, omega 3 fish oil, and b complex are all very helpful.
        Keep us posted with how you are doing.

          Well yesterday i felt a bit better I added some more veggies and i ate 3 frozen strawberries....the veggies were less than a cup and i ended up with a total of 27 net carbs

          so i will continue this way - and see if it gets better - vitamin wise I am taking calcium, vitamin c, a multivitamin but i stopped it yesterday cuz it has iron in it, omega 3-6-9 and i do drink lots of water just whenever i am thirsty.

            whereami, great job trying to add and figure out as you go. Don't slip up and get out of control as you use food for this issue. Keep reading and working it! Soon you will get it all under control.
