  • Back to Atkins

I'm male, 23, 6'4", 293lbs and actually not really what I would consider obese due to a large frame, but I am overweight.

I started this diet in Nov. of 2006 at 305lbs and lost 70lbs in 4 months (35 lbs in the first month and 35 lbs in the 3 months afterward). I stayed in the less than 20g/day induction phase for about the first 2.5-3 months. I ended up at 235lbs, was pretty happy with it and then made a lot of life transitions, moving, new job, new place and got out of it. I am now back to 293lbs. I loved it when I had lost the weight and really want to feel that way again so I started back today. I hear that it doesn't come off as fast the second time? So I know this will be hard. The first time I was on it, I was literally losing a pound a day for the first month and a half, it was the most motivation that I had ever had about losing weight and this was with a desk job and working out a couple times a week. I was so into it that I studied it and told everyone that I knew about it, my whole family was on it for a little while but they didn't have the wheelpower and lost it. I loved being able to see a plate of cookies or brownies and not even have the first thought about eating them. After I gained it back, I felt pretty bad about disgracing the diet as it does work but as with any diet if you don't follow it as a lifestyle you gain it back.

My goal this time is to get down to about 220lbs and not lose a lot of muscle in the process. I did lose some strength the first time on the diet but it was well worth it in the end, besides who really needs a 250lb bench press with a desk job, lol.

As you will see, my GF makes me take the pictures.

    Re: Back to Atkins

Welcome back to Atkins to welcome to STACer forum!

For some the second time around is different, for me it wasn't. What did make it different was the first time the weight melted off because I exercised a lot and the second time I let it slack. Exercise makes a big difference.

Post a lot, drink your water, remember if you can make it through the first three days it get's a lot easier after that!

Yeah, I remember the devastation of the first 3 days. It's beginning to hit me already.

      Thanks,

Well so far so good. Down 6lbs to 287 this morning, although I know this is water weight and missing food weight.
