So I did Atkins a few years ago and lost 80+ pounds in between 6-8 months. I quit because I dated a guy who watched every carb I put into my system, and told me I was going to get fat again. I wanted someone who wouldn't care how big I was...stupid, perhaps, but true.
So, now I'm married with a daughter, and I was back up to 280 pounds at the beginning of the year. Around that time, I started noticing severe thirst and I got sick after eating sugar or pasta. Cutting those things out of my diet was easy, but I didn't actually start Atkins until May 2nd. By that point, my first weigh-in was 267.8...and I had lost approximately 12 pounds.
I followed Induction semi-well, although not perfectly, the first week and lost my first 6 pounds. The following week I cheated like crazy, to the point that I wasn't following Atkins at all. I gained 3 pounds back. Friday, I went to New York City, and stayed downstate with friends...who encouraged me to the point that I started all over. When I got home, I stepped on the scale for the first time in three days (I obsessively weigh once a day...it keeps me going) and was down to 257.8. Today, I'm at 255.8 and still going strong. I've lost almost 25 pounds since the beginning of the year and am still going. My eventual goal is 185 (I'm 5'9" and am large boned), although I'm not setting a time limit on it.
I'm so excited to be part of this community and to see how well people do. Its nice to know that you're not alone.
