All Confused

I have no clue what is going on with the forum these days as I am sure a lot of others are in the same boat. I can understand wanting to make money and expand--that's just human nature, but it sure can confuse a person when things seemingly change overnight. Add to that Induction brain fog and you have a recipe for disaster, lol.

I've got a few questions maybe some of you know the answers to???

1. Was an announcement made that the forum was switching over to a paid site?

2. Will the forum morph into an actual store type website or will it stay a forum?

3. Is the site adbb.org or the dietbulletin.com?

4. Why the switch and the headache???

5. I know these types of forums can be expensive to purchase and maintain but I've heard the .org site was temporary and the .com site had too many problems. Is there a third site in the making?


I'm just trying to hang onto friends and it seems like a lot of us are lost and confused as to what's going on and where an announcement was posted. This forum is so large that things like that can get lost. If something was posted, could someone point me in the right direction.

There was an announcement but I don't know where to direct you to find/see that. My understanding is the .org was a temporary site while the upgrade on the .com It is my understanding that we are to use the www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com site. They are still working out some bugs~~~I think. It is all confusing & very frustrating to many members. Hope that helps some!

First and foremost: This is not a paid site and won't be. It has always been your choice to be a supporting member and it cost $15 for quite a while. Shortly, it will cost $19.99 to become a supporting member, but it is still your choice. The cost of everything has gone up, including hosting a site this big.

This is just an upgrade and this is almost all the changes. It will not become a store and will always be a forum or bulletin board. There are still a few bugs, but Tom and the rest are working non-stop to get them worked out. Behind the scenes we are working out bugs as fast as we can. You can help by reporting anything that is not working properly. We just ask for some patience. The end result will be worth it.

Well the peeps in charge are working on upgrading the site so while things were upgrading everyone was directed to a temporary site adbb.org.
That site was temporary.You are now to use the atkinsdietbulletinboard.com now. During the upgrade some posts have been lost. There was an announcement posted on the portal front page before it happened. Tom also posted announcements at the top of (I think) every forum.The upgrade is pretty much done but there are some bugs. So please report them so as to help them out.

Upgrades are nessecary for a board this size. That's just one of those things in forums/groups/ etc. That's the internet for ya! haha

This is a free site. It does cost a lot to keep it running so that's why they have posted instructions on becoming a supporting member. I plan on doing so after my summer vacations (I'm saving up for them, hehe)

Let me try and reassure here. This is a fee site and I pray it always will be. This board is expensive to run and host. That is why we have subscriptions. The difference has always come out of Toms pocket.

As our numbers grow so will out needs for bigger hosts etc. Hence the upgrade to keep us running smooth.

You can become a supporting member for the $20.00 fee and we will give you a few perks to say thank you.

You can donate any amount at any time you wish.

There is a fundraiser (of sorts) to raise $100.00 That is just a donation you wish to make.

Please remember Tom, myself, the other Admins and moderators all do this with out pay. We do this in our spare time. We give of our time and efforts because of our love of the WOL and all of you please be patient with us when you find us slow to respond.

If you never give a penny, are a supporting member, or donate $1.00 a pound we are thankful to have you here.

No. This site is not switching over to a paid site. Why would you think that? This site is free and donations are optional. Supporting Membership is optional. All money from donations etc are used to keep the board up and running, the software licences up to date etc ...

It is a free site and will never change to a pay site.

Again, where are you basing this information from? What would make you believe that this was going to "morph" into a store? What would even be the point of "morphing" to a store?

This site is Free, and will never "morph" into a store. Donations are optional.

3. Is the site adbb.org or the dietbulletin.com?

please do not use adbb.org that was used temporally while we were doing the upgrade.

4. Why the switch and the headache???

We upgraded the software. There are many new features and I needed to upgrade the software and the hardware.

The org site was temporary just so we could install it there and get the site up and running.

The announcement was posted on the old version of the board.
I will take responsibility for the confusion as I had a chance to get some help in doing the upgrade. It was more difficult than I thought and we are still fixing some bugs. But I think it is getting better.

If anyone sees a bug or is confused just drop me a pm and I will do my best to fix it or walk you through the issue.

Actually if you want to PM me just to say hi I am cool with that too.

I see. That all makes perfect sense now. I must have missed the announcement because all I saw on the portal page was the veggie challenge announcement.

Somewhere along the line I got the impression that the site was going to change into a paid type deal with membership fees, etc., mostly because of the web address change. A little bit of the "it's too good to be true" (that a place this amazing can exist and really be free) state of mind got to me as well.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and I hope they'll be another announcement made describing all the new features and how to use them!

No need to close the thread--other people might have the same questions. Better get it all out in the open right at the start, so when all the bugs are worked out, we can get back to the business of losing pounds, getting healthy and supporting each other.

The base new feature is the Blog, also user defined groups.

I would welcome you to try them out. Also there is a very good FAQ that comes with the site now.
