    I have been off and on the Atkins, and I could never figure out why when I reached 199lbs I would get scared and shoot right back up to where I am today 237.5 I have learned that I did not have self-confidence in myself or self-esteem I would scare myself since I was moving out of my element I was use to the "FAT BOX" I have only once in my life been this heavy and like I have said before no one holds that fork but me. I can and will control what goes into my mouth! I will do this!!!

    SO this is my journey into losing my flab and sheding a whole person into a wonderful and full of life ME!!!

    Great learning. That is one of the main reasons I failed last time as well. I was doing great. 7 months, no cheats, 60 pounds down. And I realized that I was the lightest than I had been in over a decade. FREAK ME OUT! Between that and getting lack about this board and fitday and not keeping myself a piority I quickly gained it all back plus 4 more pounds. SIGH! But we are here now. We have learned the lesson and now that we know better we will do better. You can do it!

      I have a book called "Living In Love With Yourself" by Barry Ellsworth and in it he says that the things we don't have are the things we haven't given ourselves permission to have because we think we don't deserve them. Once we truly believe we are deserving, we can have it all. It's my 'bible'!

      I've always had weight problems but I'm doing great now and loving this woe. I'm on day 15 and have lost 9.5 lbs so far. When I reached 199, I realized that the fat person I saw in the mirror wasn't who I am or ever wanted to be. I knew that bread and pasta were my enemy and made me miserable so they had to go. And the nice thing is, I don't even miss them. So let's never forget again that we are worth it and deserve it all!!!

          Yes, it would be great if we could be weight loss buddies. I am soooo ready to lose this fat, once and for all.

          Could I recommend another book? 'Psycho-cybernetics' by Maxwell Maltz. Yeah, I know it sounds like a technical manual, but trust me, it's not! It's all about self-esteem. Dr. Maltz tell us exactly why we get results we don't want and exactly how to change that mindset. It seems that our brain is a goal seeking mechanism so when we look at ourselves and say "I'm a big fat cow", that's the goal our mind goes after. We need to change the way we see and think about ourselves so that our mind goes after 150lbs. instead of 200lbs. And it's so easy to do. Just learn to see yourself as you want to be instead of what you are now. And, mostly importantly, be patient and just let it happen instead of trying to force it because the mind works at it's own pace and can't be hurried. That why unrealistic goals don't work. I checked Amazon.com and they have both books. Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

          Could either of you help me out with the avatars and other graphics on the board. Where do you get them and how do you get them on the page? I know how to work the signature but the other things elude me. I went to tickerfactory and chose one but can't get it to work and would like to know what I'm doing wrong.

            It is day three for me and all is well, Last night went to Whataburger and they have this wonderful hamburger on a wheat bun and in my mind I was telling myself I could eat it since it is on wheat bread then my other voice was like "Yvette what are you doing? "FAT BOX!!!" So the line was long and my will power was so much stronger I left!! Then I took the kids to Sonic order yep Diet Dr.Pepper! I crumble around this soda!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, well then when I got home, I just chopped up sausage, with ham, onions, 2 tbs of tomatoe sauce and added a whole jalapeno and saute it all together, needless to say I picked a spice pepper so that helped since after a couple of bits my mouth was on fire so that was enough for me! My daughters graduation party is today, so I am going to get ready for that it is at 5, so right now it is 8:43 so I have time, to start moving things around. I will succeed!!!!!!!, Drink that water!! I am so worth this!!!!!!!!!!!

              Congrats on passing up the burger. It takes courage to walk away like that! And congrats on your daughter's graduation. I hope all of you had a good time.

              I'm on day 17 and doing fine too. I ate very little yesterday but not by design. I had company all day, an old friend I haven't seen in years, and we spent the day walking and talking. And went it came to meals times, she's diabetic and on a strict diet too so we had lean meat and veggies. It worked out great for both of us! When I got the chance this mornin to add it up, I only ate 660 calories and 10 carbs so I will try to eat more today because that's not enough to sustain me. I will try for twice that today.

              Hope you have a good day. We have to keep our goals in mind at all times and not let the 'protoplasm on a plate' (food) dictate our choices. Seeing food for what it really is, helps keep temptation at bay.

                That book is still around??? I've had it since the late 70's. Psycho-cybernetics is what they now call biofeedback. I fashioned my goal contract that I use every day, straight from that book.

                    Sunnysmile, Yes, the book is still in print. There is even an updated one which I haven't read. Mine is the original with the orange and white cover. I have gotten a lot of help from it. I bought mine in 1982 and when he described the 'failure-type personality, he was talking about me!!!

                    Now I'm happy and proud to say that I have a success-type personality. Now I'm applying his goal setting strageties to losing weight and so far, so good. I've lost 11 lbs. in 18 days. Yippeeee!

                      Is that why i am having such a hard time finding this book? Unless I am not looking correctly? Congrats on the weight loss Nyna, and Sunnysmile since coming on here last year your smile makes me smile. Lisa thanks for reading and the encouragment! Today is day 5 for me and I really need to kick up my exercise routine, get all this extra me off-Fat and big girl are no longer part of my vocabulary! No more feeling sorry for myself! I got myself this way and by-gum I can take this weight off!!

                        Hello to all the wonderful persons on this lovely site! Without all of ya'll I do not think I would have came back to show myself that I am worth all this and more!!!!!!!!!
                        This mornin, got up made breakfast for the hubby and lunch, made breakfast for myself along with some caldo for lunch, kids breakfast and then put on my sweat suit and hit that treadmill! Wow all I can say is THANK YOU JESUS FOR GIVING ME THE STRENGTH AND WILL TO JOG AND MOVE MY LIMBS!!

                        Then I did 10 crunches, and 10 sit ups 18 push ups!! Whoop Whoop little by little my negative barrier's will crumble!!!!!!!!!! Well since I am staying home with the kids will make the most wonderful day today with out time!
                        Ahhh today is my second child Kahala's Birthday!! She is 11!!!!!!!! I have three birthday's down and two more to go!!!!!!

                          Willlose40, congrats on all the exercise. Nothing makes us feel better than that elation after a good workout. I have a treadmill that I've always loved but my right knee hates it so I use an ellipitcal machine now. And I lift weights but not as often as I should, just enough to keep my back from hurting. I also swim almost every other day. That's my favorite exercise. I do laps for 1 hour at a time.

                          By keeping up the great attitude and the exercise, we will definitely win the battle of the bulge.

                            Nyna would love to swim need to find out when the pool around here opens. So do you have a machine with weights? or is it free weights? That is something I need to do.

                            Yesterday was a good day with my kids, I could not find my keys to my van, so we rode the bus into downtown, man talk about getting sick on the bus I sure did! My kids enjoyed it so that is all that really matters. We went to go see kung-fu panda that is a really cute movie. But I could not get over the price of popcorn!! High, high just like everything else I guess. I need to wake up I am like a zombi here at work my hands for some reason feel so swollen. This morning while doing my exercises on the floor I fell asleep! Then when I woke up I noticed the time! 7:15 my poor kids I was rushing to get them up to take my oldest to school she has to be there by 8 and it is a 25 min drive so needless to say I got her there at 7:58 she was upset and telling me now I have to run to class! Ahhh but you got here before 8! She did not think it was funny-LOL But hey life moves on. Anyhow today my mini goal is to not have any whip topin.

                              Yvette, I have a machine called a GymPac. I don't know if they even still make them. I bought it from sears in the 1970's. It's alot like a bowflex as far as what it does, only without the big bands. I do 22 different lifts, 1/2 on the machine and the rest with dumdbells. They make me feel great but I have developed a major resistance to doing the routines and I don't know why because I love it. Do you ever have a resistance to exercising?

                              Are you still on induction or one of the rungs? You mentioned whipped topping, so I was wondering. I hope you're feeling better today. We have to stick with the program and I know sometimes it's so hard to do, especially with kids around, but I tell myself that the better care we take of ourselves, the better we are at taking care of them.
